i placed an order for a california roll and a spicy combo. my order did not come for about 20 minutes, but then one of the waitress came to me w/ the bill. i told her that i have not been served any food. she left the bill on my table and left. nothing happened and i continued to wait. then another waitress came to my table again, this time w/ a machine and asked me to pay for a meal I have not been served. Again, I explained I have not been served the food I ordered. After over about 30 minutes sitting there waiting, my order came, but in much smaller portions and the amount of wasabi was basically enough for the four pieces of california roll i ordered. self serve or even just tim hortons would have made a much better experience. i paid and left. again no words of thanks and no apologies. i do not recommend this place at all.

Delicious Japanese food in a cozy spot. Just off West Broadway & Granville, its a convenient place to get to. Been here a couple of times & always great service & food. The sashimi always top quality as its sliced perfectly & melts in your mouth. The assorted tempura is crispy & crunchy with the standard root vegetables & 4 lightly battered prawns. Great share plate. The sushi variety is amazing. The Nude Boy replaces the seaweed with rice paper roll, the crab meat & the finishing sauce complimented the overall roll. The Bacon Mountain is an impressive roll, bacon wrapped around the sushi roll topped with crisp shards of tempura. The salmon oshi is good portion, large slices than others Ive tried. My recommendation- try any of the special rolls & if you are definitely try the Nude Boy. The sashimi is also a go to dish.

This business likes to add on extra charges for no explicable reason and then treat you like dirt when you complain. The only thing I dislike even more than being overcharged, is having my food thrown down on the seat next to me without a word of acknowledgement instead of being handed to me with a ‘Thankyou’.

My experience here at sushi van was pretty decent. It was almost a 4 rating, except the decor kinda dampens your experience. Service is friendly and prices are very friendly. It’s definitely a great place for people wanting to eat frugal. I would come back again for take out. I got the Spicy salmon roll and chicken katsu. They were delicious!

Food is pretty good but staff rush you from start to finish. Unfortunately, this gives the place a fast-food vibe. Go elsewhere if you’d like to do more than wolf down a sushi roll.

excellent choice for sushi in Fairview. The sashimi was delicious and the rolls that my kids got were good too. I couldn’t believe how cheap it was. I would have given a 4.5 but the food was much more excellent than the setting and decor.
