Excellent. Year in and out we are eating out frequently anywhere in and around Victoria, up to Cowichan Bay and also the Saanich Peninsula across the border and Overseas.Yesterday in Sidney BC we hit one of our long-time favored spots which is the Boondock Pub and both of us selected the CHICKEN PESTO IN ALFREDO SOUCE.Well it turned out to be the best one we ever tasted. Well done and Congratulations to the Chef an Waitress.Thanks, Karl & Ursula P.
Yummy local place with amazing salsa and a good kids menu. Nice servers and a decent atmosphere.
Good but. New to the area and have been checking out all the local stops, boondocks is defiantly a local hang out lots of local people. Little colourful ! Food was ok lacks on presentation, service is really lazy! Lots of talking and chatting amongst them selves. Angry bar tender, don’t know who is is but man does this woman hate her job, complain,complain,complain. But over all fun little hole in the wall and food was average. I will try it again
Hello ahmcleod…..there is really no way other than this to respond to you. I am the owner…my husband has had boondocks since it opened and squid row and marys blue moon before that….so defiantly not new management. I do however have three new servers…it would help me to know who your server was so they continue to grow and get better when they know they’re doing something wrong. As for my food product I am also the chef and nothing I order is bottom of the barrel. We cut our own steaks and use aaa angus Canadian beef for nys as well as prime rib. I’m sorry you got a tough steak…was it cooked improperly? We are always happy to fix something if its not done right. As well as the drinks…did u tell your server there was something bad with them? All I can do is apologize at this point and offer you to come back and see me and I’d be happy to buy you dinner….but also would be helpful to know who served you so I can let them know how to be better for next time. If you do read this…please come and ask for jenn and ill be happy to set you and your wife up with a nice dinner. We also have a website and an email so that you can connect to me directly and I can take care of you that way. I am the chef you mention and also the owner. The med wrap is definatley a very popular item and ive never had any complaints, im sorry about the dressing we do put a vinaigrette dressing on…maybe a bit to much that time. I would like the opportunity to have you back and buy you lunch and show you our food is great. As for me telling stories at the bar….sometimes its nice to converse with my customers and show I have a vested interest in them spending money at my establishment. I will also speak to our servers about that and make sure this doesnt happen again…I really do try to make sure they are on every table all the time….but I do have some challenges with a few and I apologize for that. So if your ever in the neighbour hood again please just ask for me and ill make sure your takin care of. Thanks for taking the time to write a reveiw so we can correct the things going wrong.
Disappointed. We went here tonight for dinner and something has changed! We are Sidney locals and stop in from time to time, but tonight it was pretty bad. Our drinks were terrible, no utensils, steak was tough and the service was poor. It seems that the quality of food isn’t all that great either. I’m guessing new management and inexperienced staff. We may give it another chance, but not any time soon.
We went there for lunch last Thursday. I’m sure they do well when there busy but it was empty and the service was terrible. I had the mediteranian wrap. There was so much oil in it that I couldn’t hold it. I ate it but felt sick as a dog after. I have to say their homemade thousand island dressing was fantastic. I liked my salad. The person I was with had to leave for an appointment so I stayed to pay the bill and pack up their left overs. It took over 20 minutes to get someone’s attention. I physically was turned around in my chair completely staring at staff and no one came over, there was less than three patrons. The bartender about 10 feet away was in their own world and talking to a friend at the bar. The chef came out to talk and the bar and tell stories. There was another guy who looked like he was ordering supplies while sitting at a table and then there was my server who never came out of the kitchen. He didn’t finish my table, the bartender came to help. I didn’t know where my tip was going so I didn’t want to leave one but did anyways.
Great Food. We go there for dinner about once a month, the food is always very good. The staff is also very nice.
