The two piece halibuts were delicious. Fries meh. I could have used a but more coleslaw.. The prawn appy was a total rip off since you just get 6 for $9. I’d recommend you just stick to the fish and chips when you visit.
The food and service at this cheery sanctuary from the world outside never disappoints. Every meal I’ve had here arrived quickly. The staff is dedicated and attentive, the curry sweet potato dipping sauce a delight, the fried fish done perfectly. Ask for half potato and half sweet potato fries; both are delicious.
Fish on fifth used to be one of the best places to go for fish and chips. Today we went there for a late lunch and we were highly disappointed. The service was okay and I do have to say that, and our food came out with in 10 mins. The batter was very mushy and it wasn’t crispy at all. The Caesar salad was horrible with no Caesar flavour at all. The yam frie dipping sauce was not something I would enjoy dipping into. I don’t think we will be coming back.
We used to really enjoy the food here. The prices were decent and the servings were generous. This time we went for lunch and were quite disappointed. The coating on our deep fried cod was mushy on the inside. The servings were quite a bit smaller and the prices were higher. As business owners ourselves, we know prices have to go up but quality shouldn’t go down. We were disappointed that they no longer have all you can eat fish and chips. The kids’ meals were tiny and our kids were still hungry after. We won’t be back. We’ll try a different fish and chips option next time.
Friends suggested that Fish on Fifth had gone down hill from its previous reputation. In their view the fish was greasy and the fries soggy. While hard to accept we planned to go by and see for ourselves but another friend and her brother went in and found the same thing before we got there.Being wanting to make up our own minds we tried it.Three strikes and you are out.It seems to me that the basic principal of frying battered fish has been lost. Cool oil makes for soggy and oily batter on the finished product and that is what they have.Fries should be cooked and drained at a lower temperature and finished in a second fryin in very hot oil as well. Not our favorite, won’t be back and will share with those who want to know.
O.K.gave it one more try–guess what—-not good—sorry–no I should not be sorry–they shouldit just is not good–the food is below average –service is good most timesThree times I’ve been disappointed here and enough is enoughI won’t go back there and neither should you
Terrible service. Went there yesterday for lunch and we waited over an hour for our food. The people next to us who came in 20 mins after us got theirs, so we asked why ours was taking so long. We were told if they had our order they would of made it… Really amazing service (hahaha) Not only did they forget our order they didn’t even own up to forgetting to place it. We walked out of there and will never return. Horrible horrible service
