COFFEE IS AWFUL. To the gu…. COFFEE IS AWFUL. To the guy who said in his review that this place can pull a real shot, you are completely wrong. Cafe Umbria is lowlowlow quality beans, and the baristas behind the bar seem to be of about the same caliber. So unfortunate given that there are at least 5 wolrd class coffee roasters right in Victoria – you’d think that having an establishment in Sidney that can pull a decent shot would be a no-brainer. Sadly, they havenb’t figured that out at Georgia Station
Gran Fondo Java. Dropped in on a Saturday morning and it seemed like a pit stop on a bicycle tour. A lot of people in clip-on bicycle shoes and various bicycle team kit. Had a coffee and a scone and a fruit cup. Nothing spectacular but everything was good. Lots of service staff to handle what seemed like a constant influx of customers, but no big delays. Lots of outdoor seating on a good day. People don’t ride a long ways and stop for mediocre. Something I’ll have to remember in the future : if bicyclists are stopping, something is happening.
Nice morning place. Great Latte to go while picking up one of their yummy and addicting baguettes..I’m warning you..they are wonderful!
Food was fresh and tasted great but the service was chaotic. We ordered several items and they messed up on almost every element of the order. Even an attempt of staff to apologize with the offer of an extra item was quickly forgotten and never arrived at our table. Place would benefit from some management oversight and more attentive staff.
The best, and only, real espresso in Sidney. This is the only place in town that knows how to properly pull a shot, texturize milk, and pour latt art. The espresso wasn’t under extracted, nor over extracted. Just right! They use Caff Umbria beans and brew espresso on a Cimbali machine…and the barista on the day of my visit was a pro. Highly recommended!!!
