Oooookay. Well, I know we’re not in a town with a lot of Chinese presence, but even mediocre Chinese food has to have a certain level of acceptability. The furnishings were middle-class with a side of kitsch. Pleasant, but not for date night. The menu is mostly what you would expect for a restaurant that caters to a western clientele. Won Ton soup, Sweet and Sour pork, Fried Rice, etc. We opted to go for relatively simple, yet more authentic standards: Ma Po Tofu, Kai Lan and Garlic, Braised Beef Clay Pot, Snow Peas with Scallops.Every single dish was Waaaay. Too. Sweet. Ma Po tofu should not be sweet, Snow Peas and scallops should not be coated with a thick layer of cornstarch and sugar sauce, Kai Lan (chinese broccoli) shouldn’t be considered a dessert item.Although braised beef can be somewhat sweet, not like this… not like this…When we finished, we had to check our mouths to make sure we still had teeth in them.On a positive note, they kept the sugar out of the ice water. Yay.

Upset in Sidney. Had some visitors from back east in July.Called about 8pm. They said kitchen was closing in 15 minutes. so make order now. We ordered $40 worth (for 4 people) and picked it up (2 blocks away). When we started eating, we realized, they took old food (or leftovers) and re deep fried them. It was awful. Would not feed this to my dog. We through it all away (EVERY DISH). Absolutely terrible food. Glad that a new Chinese Restaurant is opening nearby.
Finger Nail in My Fried Rice. I went for lunch March 21st with a group from work. I ordered Combo 1. It arrived and as I ate it, I found a finger nail in my mouth when I ate the fried rice. It was a pretty gross experience. I have always enjoyed the food at Good Fortune, but wonder why they would have someone in the kitchen with long finger nails chopping vegetables. The finger nail was long. I am now uncertain of what goes on behind the scenes at this restaurant. They did take my plate away, along with the nail, and after awhile brought me another plate with more fried rice on it. I said no thanks to the fried rice as I said that is what I found the finger nail in and had it substituted with some veggies. In the end, I did eat and the restaurant did not charge me for my lunch.
Best ginger beef vote from me too! So good it’s all I ever have. Wor Wonton to start when the gang is all there. Guess I need to try the homemade egg rolls.
It’s bad fortune Great ser…. It’s bad fortune Great service, amazing English speaking very friendly but awful food. Why hate but seriously hated it. As always see for yourself
The service is very friendly and quick but the food wasn’t good. I got one of the lunch combos; few veggies, undercooked chicken balls and greasy noodles.
