I am rating J Kitchen as poor, not for the food as it is excellent, but for the reason that they really need to step their game up in the customer service department. I have been here twice now and both times my encounters have been really poor. They are very unwilling to accomadate substitutions or sides of anything. I will most likely go back as its the only decent sushi place in Sidney right now, but I do hope to see an improvement in their customer service.

Everyone is so friendly, and I order sushi. Nobody likes making sushi, but they make good rolls. They even occasionally throw me a roll un-requested. 10/10 price & quality

Nothing special. Only ordered the Korean dishes. They tasted fine. Normal, as expected. Can’t really make a comment on the Japanese dishes, though.Prices are okay – around 10 to 15 per dish. Size of dishes are okay too.Overall, fine place to stop by if you’re interested in Asian food at Sidney.

I’ve been here a couple of times now and the food has been delicious. Friendly staff working hard and serving beautiful, tasty Japanese/Korean food in a small, unassuming location. I’m a vegetarian, my husband is not, both kids were with us and we were all actually talking aloud about how amazing our choices were. Even the miso soup was exceptionally flavourful! I really hope that the word gets out about this little eatery. It’s worth a trip. We’ll be back and telling friends about it…

A pleasant experience overall. The food was beautifully arranged and the taste did not disappoint. We did not eat a lot of sushi so I can not comment on that portion of the menu, however, the dynamite roll was perfection and the Korean dishes were fantastic. I personally had the beef bulgogi with rice and miso and my friend had the ginger chicken (marinated chicken breast in a house made sauce) with salad and veggies and we were both very pleased. The portions were generous as we both brought home leftovers for a second evening meal. A nice addition to the Sidney restaurant scene.

A restaurant covering two distinct ethnicities could be accused of muddying concepts. However when both are done well, as was the case here, the result is a satisfying and varied menu. This place was delicious! The sushi rolls we’re quite good (big as well), and the Korean fare (which is their strong suit) was packed with flavour.I wish they had chosen to open in a less cursed location (this spot has been a few different things over the years – but never successful). However if there is a place that deserves to break the curse, it is a place that serves quality fare like this.

This new, small and unassuming Korean/Japanese restaurant serves some of the best Korean food I’ve ever eaten. The lunch special is a great value: salad consisting of very fresh mixed greens with a delicious, light homemade dressing, edamame, 3 gyozas, and a wrap consisting of bulgogi (marinated beef) or chicken katsu (fried breast meat) for $10.50. The gyozas, kimchi (made in-house) and bulgogi are fantastic. The chef is very particular and only uses high quality ingredients to make all the dishes from scratch, including all sauces. They also offer a good selection of sushi rolls. This little gem is a very welcomed addition to the Town of Sidney.
