5/5. Those fritters. THE CHINESE CHEWS. Love this place, and it’s cheap A.F. A true gem, if you only have a few dollars, this is the place to spend them.
I was recommended here by a local. Loved the smell as I walked in and I knew that I landed in the right place. The varieties in this bakery are unmatched. It all seemed a bit unorganized and I’m sure I didn’t even see all offerings. It was busy, but service was prompt and I was in and out sooner than I anticipated. Now, for taste. The donuts were good but not great. The croissants were buttery, good, but could be flakier. Bread was good but found better in the area. Cookies were delicious and many different types are found here. Buns and rolls were spot on, priced to sell in dozens and my main reason to come back.
Absolutely amazing!! I’ve had the jelly donuts -they’re perfect! The cinnamon twist, sausage rolls, all very very tasty. They know what good baking is!
Apple Fritters. Perfect crunch, soft and moist inside, and dipped in glaze.
Best macaroons on earth…. I am very happy to have stopped at this place on our way to the ferry! We bought many samples of their baking goods many traditional varieties with a slight twist. Oh but did I mention the Macaroons… Unbelievable…so moist and tastey with just the perfect amount of sticky cap on the outer bits, and 60c each. So much happiness for 60c!Great baking! Amazing value! I will return on every voyage:)
What happened to the best cinnamon buns they used to make? or the fruit chews? My feeling is the business has changed hands and the new owner doesn’t know what made this place famous or there’s a new baker. So disappointed.
Sidney Bakery use to have fabulous doughnuts and bread but since they changed management things have gone downhill. In the summer they had more wasps inside than outside. The place is dated and is in need of updating. They are lucky that competition is bleak.
