This pub has a history, ghosts and a great standard menu with some interesting items, but I stick with the good ol’ fish and chips when I go here and a pint of Guinness. I love to sit in the back by the fireplace or at the small bar for a chat about the local ghosts or the locals in general, when dining alone. The outside in the summer is a great choice as well, pretty but noisy as it sits right on the highway, or sooke road

New chef took over last year an dvd topped my favorites – BLT and Thai chicken cashew wrap and our favorite server Audrey left-so overall for me it’s gone downhill in quality and chose for me.Still breakfast is good and the wings are good.

This place ticks all the boxes for great fresh pub food and friendly service and atmosphere. We come when ever we’re in the neighbourhood. Be sure to sit in the fire place room!

Good pub food, the fish and chips is my favourite, and a pretty mellow atmosphere (which I like). Oh, and the Cesar’s are amazing! I come back from time to time.

Poor service and unhelpful staff. I came here a couple days ago with wife and daughter for dinner as it is licensed pub and restaurant. My 3 three old daughter wanted spaghetti and meatballs. As they had no kids menu, I asked if they could do a half size, half price order for her, rather than pay the full $18.00 price. The server came back from the kitchen and said no they couldn’t do anything for us. I was surprised at the lack of flexibility and service, especially considering they had no kids items on the menu! I mentioned my disappointment to the kitchen manager and he told me they would NEVER have a kids menu. I also left a message with the manager to voice my disappointment in service and he didn’t return my call. Bottom line is, if you are a restaurant pub establishment that allows children and families to eat here, then you should offer some kids items on the menu, or at the very least have a level of flexibility in the kitchen!

Typical pub food but quaint setting (gets a bit loud but that’s probably to be expected). Service was mediocre but fast enough (though we were on the front end of supper rush). We had: bacon wrapped scallops (they were ‘ok’), fish and chips (fries are quite good, coleslaw decent but fish was terrible (not fresh, weird texture, no flavour, soggy batter), and the chicken cordon blue sandwich (large servings and quite good). We’ve had worse but it’s not good enough to come back for or to recommend to others.

Good Food. Stopped by this quiet pub for lunch today. We were waited on quickly and the food was excellent. Good menu selection and prices also.
