Tokiwa for me is INDEFINITELY the absolute best sushi place in Vancouver! When you step inside you feel the homeliness of the red accented walls and the small, warm space. The cleanliness of the restaurant is always top-of-the-crop and even the kitchen is never dirty. The two hardworking sushi men are always there, non-stop, creating the most amazing sushi rolls. They are super committed to what they do and that is why Tokiwa thrives! The waitresses vary but they are always very friendly and their service never fails to impress. The space is small but homely. The lady greeted us with a smile, and showed us to a table immediately (there were not a lot of people on the day).I have come here before numerous times (it’s my go-to sushi restaurant in Vancouver). My family and I shared a large veg miso soup and a gomaae and I got a spicy scallop roll and chicken teriyaki roll for myself. The miso was chock-full of hearty veggies (seaweed, daikon, carrots, cauliflower) and the gomaae was not overly sweet-salty and full of sauce, the sauce to spinach ratio was just right. My spicy scallop roll is one of my typical rolls- and it sure is delicious. It has tasty little morsels of plump, soft scallop contrasting with crunchy tobiko, and finished off with a luscious spicy mayo with just enough kick as to tingle my tastebuds. I had never tried their chicken teriyaki roll but I knew I would be impressed- and I was! The roll had juicy, flavorful chicken with a sweet teriyaki sauce, and crispy, delicious onions. It tasted like a chicken teri don, sized down- amazing!Other recommended rolls I’ve ordered before are both aburi rolls (tuna and sockeye salmon), California roll, dynamite roll, BC rollthe list goes on and on!What an amazing sushi place.

Eat here… If you like beautiful, tasty, creative sushi, and you are not in a rush – eat here. It’s a small place, we did take out and it took about 40 minutes, but we did order a lot. I enjoyed waiting for the food as they were playing Miles Davis at the restaurant that night, very chill atmosphere, I would eat-in as well.

This restaurant is now worth your time! They will take over 1hr to complete a simple take out order and they have the most ridiculous opening hours. I had bad experience with old mushy rice one too. Their combo deal is a good value.

Absolutely delicious sushi! Nice waitress and productive sushi man. Their small team makes the most of a small space! I wish they made noodles and rice bowls though…

The people who work here are so nice and the sushi is delicious. It’s wild sockeye with everything which is delicious as sashimi. The gomae is good and the rolls are precise. I want to try the volcano next time. Also it is very very reasonably priced.

I Miss it. When I used to be a GF Strong, I would always crave sushi so I decided to look at joints right by the place. Tokiwa was one of the restaurants that came up and I absolutely love this place. The sushi Is great. The rice especially. Would definitely go again if I was in the area.
