Had a wonderful meal here tonight. This place is a little neighbourhood gem. The food, service and ambiance were all great! Looking forward to coming back and trying the Alla Familia menu (there share style family menu). Looks like the perfect spot for my 40th bday coming up.

A little gem in the Cambie Village neighborhood that serves classic American Italian dishes. They have a great selection of antipasti, pastas, and entrees. There are also seasonal specials which changes regularly (love that!), these offerings seem more modern than those on the regular menu.I’ve been here a few times now and have never had a mediocre meal. A little pricey, but everything I’ve tried was seasoned, cooked and presented with precision. The vegetable antipasti was fresh and full of variety of flavours & texture, highly recommended! Pastas are always al dente. Tonight, we ordered the burrata with asparagus and bresaola from the special menu…ooooh so yummy. My veal chop was tender, and not greasy despite being deep fried. The lemon caper sauce, recommended by our server, was the perfect accompaniment – there’s a choice of three sauces. I also love that you can choose veggies and potatoes or spaghetti for the side dish with the main. My wife had the osso buco with saffron risotto and loved it. We were too full for dessert 🙁 But the zeppoles we had on a previous visit was heavenly…soft like clouds. Service was great tonight as always. Our server was on point and did not drop a beat. Really high end service without any pretension. We were lucky enough to get in on the early dinner as they do get really busy here. Reservations for later dinner is a must. Arrive before 6:00 if you don’t have reservations and they might be able to squeeze you in.

My friend suggested Sorella after seeing a picture on instagram. I had never heard of it before either so it was good to try something new. It’s a cozy restaurant. When I got there, there were a few tables. By the time my friend got there, the place started to fill up. I ordered the Spaghetti alla vongole. I thought this was interesting because usually this type of pasta is with linguini. They actually didn’t even have that pasta on the menu. They had spaghetti, penne, and fettucini as the main types of pasta. When our dishes came, I was surprised by the portion. It was pretty generous looking. The clams in my dish were pretty big as well. I liked my dish but I wish my spaghetti was more tender or chewy. Overall, I think this place is pretty decent priced for what you get. The service was great. The waitress checked on us and refilled our water pretty frequently. I would probably go back with my family if we were feeling like having Italian food.

Our experience was underwhelming. It was my wife’s birthday, but it was never acknowledged even though I mentioned it twice when I made the reservation. We felt like they were more interested in turning the table than offering service. We had to wait a long time before the server came to greet us. The bright spot of the meal was the Carpaccio appetizer. Both our mains were off. My veal piccata was lacking sufficient piccata and the green bean side dish was tremendously overcooked. My wife’s veal ravioli special was bland, under seasoned and unappealing. The server was defensive when I offered feedback for the kitchen and told me that I should have asked for extra lemon when I placed my order. Pied-a-Terre was a lovely experience. Its replacement was not. Given the ownership group’s reputation for excellent Italian, we were extremely disappointed. The experience was so negative we skipped desert and went for fabulous ice cream across the street. We are looking at other Italian options in the neighbourhood.
