This is a casual Asian restaurant located on Fraser Street in the Punjabi Market. Their menu consists primarily of Hong Kong style dishes, which are sort of a fusion between Asian and Western food. I had their Baked Curry Beef Brisket Thick Toast and Baked Pork Chop with Tomato Sauce on Rice, and thoroughly enjoyed both dishes. Their prices are also very cheap. I did find their service to be a bit lacking unfortunately (which is typical of most Asian restaurants); and it definitely helps if you can speak Cantonese as that’s the language that the staff primarily uses. The good food and prices more than make up for the lackluster service however, and I’d highly recommend checking this place out if you enjoy HK cuisine. This is cash only, so be sure to have some bills on you.Baked Curry Beef Brisket Thick Toast ($9.95):4/5This consisted of a small loaf of toast that’s filled with beef curry. The toast was of the Asian-style milk toast variety, and was very fluffy and had a wonderful chewiness. The curry was also very flavourful and savoury, with several large pieces of tender beef and potatoes. I did find a few of the potato pieces to be a tad undercooked.Baked Pork Chop with Tomato Sauce on Rice ($10.25):4/5The pork chop had a lightly crunchy coating, and was quite meaty and tender. While I’m generally not the biggest fan of tomato sauce, I actually quite enjoyed the version here; it was quite thick and not overly tangy. The portion size isn’t very large, but their prices are quite cheap, making it a very reasonable deal.Summary:Food: 4/5Price: 4.5/5Service: 2.5/5Overall: 3.5/5Recommendations: Baked Curry Beef Brisket Thick Toast, Baked Pork Chop with Tomato Sauce on Rice

A hk style cafe in punjabi market, interesting. My girlfriend and I decided to give it a shot. We always see people come in at 3/4 full capacity. Our service is very friendly and prompt. Prices are on the touch high side from other cafes. Actually I would say it’s only a dollar or more from hitting par on price with cafe Gloucester. My girlfriend got the stone bowl with beef, raw egg, and peas. You just mix it up till the egg is fully cooked. It wasn’t bad it’s good, just a touch boring lol. Her bowl came with a drink and she ordered the cold lemon tea. I got the spicy tofu and beef, comes with rice, and soup of the day. This dish is pretty good, I’m surprised. I guess it’s a hit or miss with items here. But what we both agreed on is the portions here. They are huge and generous. I’ll be back to try a baked item. But if I were to ordered the spicy tofu dish again, it can feed two people, just add a extra rice.Btw they sell whole cakes, slices of cakes, and grab to go items too.
It is hit or miss Hong Kong cafe restaurant for me. I like their french toast, seafood laksa, thai fried rice and shanghai noodles. Their milk tea is also good here too. It is a very busy restaurant especially during lunch hours. Their customer service is not bad. The price is little bit higher than other restaurants. Their portion is quite generous but the taste can be inconsistent from time to time. Overall when the food is good, I do enjoy eating here.
Best food with tremendous value that I can remember for a long time. Try the braised soup here – cannot go wrong with any of them. And any rice noodle dish comes with a complimentary hot drink 🙂
Service isn’t with a smile, but it’s efficient and the food is decent and at a good value. Large menu with good results on many of the dishes is quite the accomplishment.
