Best dosas in town. When this place is closed and I have to go elsewhere for my dosa fix, it just isn’t as good. Small quiet room, usually empty which means service is usually prompt. Value for money is unrivalled, a huge dosa with two chutneys and lentil soup is $10, nice cold drinkable white wine is $5 per glass. The chicken vindaloo dosa is my personal favourite, flavourful and spicy.
I LOVE this place. It’s a family-owned, hidden gem in the Fraserview neighbourhood, with great food and fantastic service. You never have to wait very long for the food and are always greeted with a smile.Favourites here are the chicken palak dosa, chicken 65 and veggie pakoras (so delicious and different than other pakoras I’ve had). Great value. I can’t say enough good things about this place!
When we walked into the place, it looked very spacious and recently renovated, not to mention tons of seating area. So, group get-togethers will not be a problem. For appetizers we ordered three dahi vadas (one for each of us). It was very fresh and the portions were appropriate. At first we thought the yogurt was too sweet, but it turned out to be a sweet red chutney sauce. If anyone orders this dish, I’m giving you all a head’s up: it’s the red chutney that is sweet – mixing it with the yogurt and dahi vada pieces is the key to enjoying this delightful favourite. It took about 25 minutes for our dinner to arrive. That wasn’t so bad.We ordered Spring Masala Dosa, Masala Dosa, and prawn biryani. All three dishes were excellently prepared. The dosa crepe was perfect and lengthy, and I have to say I really enjoyed eating it.The Spring Masala Dosa was spicy because I asked to make it hot. The potatoes were mashed up beautifully; however, they put lots of sliced onions. So for those who don’t like too much onions in their dosa, this might not be to your liking. The Masala Dosa was spiced mildly and decent. The filling was steaming hot, most importantly – a clear indication of freshness!Lastly, the prawn biryani was very tasty. It was not unbearably spicy. It came garnished South-Indian style with a boiled egg. The best part is that there was a generous amount of prawns.Naturally, we enjoyed our dinner at Madras Dosa House. I will be coming back here again and I recommend this place for a low-budget, exotic dinner.
Pretty nondescript location on Fraser and 41st. The dosa is pretty good, and tastes kind of like a giant samosa…with a crepe wrapping and yummy dipping sauce. But my favourite thing was still butter chicken, theirs is very heavy on some kind of spice I can’t name, and it makes it delicious. Portion of basmati rice it comes with is massive too, never get this much anywhere else!
Decent South Indian food, excellent service, and very reasonable prices. What’s not to like about Madras Dosa House? I only wish the interior and the music were more South Indian in nature.
Not good. We were the only ones inside and the food took forever! The chicken 65 we ordered looked like they ran out of chicken so they covered it with parsley and sliced red onions. Also, the dosas were one sided with a powdered curry flavor.
Disappointment. We were three people and had dosa on 27th December at this restaurant. Dosas were terrible and half cooked. Even onion inside dosa was uncooked. I asked the server why dosa is not cooked well and she replied as there was a problem with oven. That’s it, she was gone. We couldn’t eat the whole dosa as it was unimaginable taste but we were charged for them. They had the chance to let me know when I book 3hrs early or at least when we were there placing an order if they were running a problem with oven. It really hurts us that there was no apology or whatever and were charged full. Our whole evening was spoiled.
