So it’s kinda difficult to get some totally egg-less stuff around Vancouver and being one of the few shops (I personally do not know any other) to sell those, it deserves 5 stars from my side. Also, this place is quite accessible and I go there often just for a random samosa/patty craving.Nice little shop!
Cakes are egg free, I love the veggie patty and paneer tastes better than aloo. Surely it’s one of the good bakeries on fraser street. Gulab Jamuns were also so fresh and tasty, lucky to find all INDIAN snacks at single store.
This bakery is selling spelt bread as gluten free. SPELT CONTAINS GLUTEN. And should not be eaten if you have Celiac disease. If the owner is confronted, he will deny this. Other grains that contain gluten include: wheat, rye, barley, triticale, and kamut.
I found the products this bakery carries are amazing . I sincerely love their baked potato Samosas and their mango cream rolls . Also , let’s not forget their Til Gur Cookies . The gentleman who was helping me was amazing . All I can say is that he knows how to talk . I have been into the bakery several times now and I was look for that young gentleman. I do not know his name but he is young guy with short hair . Do not know his name but will ask when I go in next . I do not like the other individuals service . He is a one rude arrogant man and he’s really old . I would definitely give my business to the young upcoming business man . All I can say is good luck .
Slick sweet shop. Lots of Indian sweet shops come across as slightly sloppy. You walk in, there are slipshod stacks of Subcontinent snacky stuff scattered in smudgy display cases. I’ve been in plenty of Indian candy palaces that look dingy around the edges. But Manohar Vegetarian Bakery is slick and polished. Lots of shiny surfaces. The shop has a clean, open look. There are shelves with cello-wrapped cookies lining the walls dozens of kinds. Right down the middle is a long narrow table with stacks of exotic (to my North American eyes, at least) candies. Thank goodness Manohar is a clean place, because the sweets are totally uncovered. You use tongs to fill your own box. You can also choose some beautiful, room-decor-worthy gift boxes of nuts and such that come from Aggarwal Sweets of Newton.Manohar is a popular place. It’s in the centre of the Fraser Street section of Punjabi Market, and I saw at least a dozen customers pop in there while I was doing a short shop on a Saturday night.I grabbed a couple of savoury somosa-style pastries while I was there. They’re small, but only $1.25 each. As you’d expect from a bakery (as opposed to a restaurant) the crust is the star here. Very flakey pastry, almost like French millefeuille or Greek filo dough. The filling is thin, not overstuffed. Fresh, spicy mince of vegetables in one, paneer cheese in the other. One other thing to remember — there’s not a speck of meat, or chocolate, at Manohar. Different to most…
