Samurai is a self-serve style restaurant, where you order and pay at the cash register then pick your own place to sit, you have to grab your own water or tea at the counter as well.This place is known for their huge portions, with that in mind the prices are very fair. We ordered the salmon sashimi, California roll, Negitoro roll, and spicy scallop roll. Everything was good except the spicy scallop roll, the sauce they used was some sort of satay sauce, did not match well with the scallop (kinda disgusting). However, we would return for the portion size and pricing (but not for the spicy scallop roll).
Sushi is the way of life here on the west coast. If your frugal on budget and want value this place may be the sushi fix for you. They have really big portions I’m not kidding. If your going to order sashimi ask the sushi chefs to slice it thinner for you. I feel like I’m a sea lion gobbling down my fish lol.
I ordered their half sized house roll,sushi don and spicy tuna roll. Everything else was great but spicy tuna roll was revolting. It was definitely stale and not eatable. When I took a bite, the sour flavour was over powering, tuna was definitely mushy and chopped off in to pieced and mushed up. It was definitely stale. The tuna inside was dark brown and liquid came out of it. I paid 20 bucks in total but I threw it all away because I can not risk food poisoning. Would not recommend to anybody.
I came here long time ago to get a bang for my buck. It was near where I lived and the sushi was large. The place smells like fish in the afternoon like…warm fish. Ugh no. Not where you go for good sushi but where you go when you are desperate and hungry.
It’s pretty good. Great service. Average quality. Not outstanding but that’s reflected in the prices. So I’ll keep coming back but there’s so many to try still!

I love this place. Came here last year with the bf and was ABsolutely blown away by the SIZE of the sushi and sashimi…it might not be put together well, but it was DELICIOUS and GINORMOUS for the price… my mouth is watering…The sashmi was super fresh and THICK. Just HUGE. And buttery.. melts in your mouth. goodness. House roll is the size of your hand. literally. We ordered only half-portion. This particular location doesn’t offer brown rice..but the one on Davie does! It’s now our MUST-GO restaurant. Breakfast..lunch…dinner…bring on the Samurai.
