I stumbled across this wonderful bakery while lost in the neighborhood, on foot on Royal Oak. (I don’t have data on my cel phone). Happy accident! I bought a few things that I discovered later, were incredibly delicious. (I think it was the Polish Cheesecake and the Applecake). I also had my coffee mug and asked if I could buy some of the drip coffee I could see behind the counter. The lady behind the counter (not sure if she was the owner) politely said no, they don’t sell coffee, and that that was coffee for the staff. I was disappointed, as there were no cafes around the area, and I was on foot, but I did not press the matter. I chose several delicious looking pastries to buy (they were INCREDIBLY GOOD!!!), and in the end the lady grabbed my cup and filled it with coffee – I tried to pay her for it, but she was horrified and insisted on giving it to me. I wouldn’t expect that again, but thought it was very kind indeed. And I could not believe how good the baking tasted. I live in Vancouver, but I will travel there because of the food, the small business ambiance, and the down home feel and service. LOVED it. <3

Great bakery. This bakery is one of the best left in the lower mainland. It is reminiscent of what you would have found on the old Granville bakery row in the last century. The bread is very nice and hearty. Sausage rolls are excellent and well pretty much everything is very good. The chocolate dipped cakes are very nice as well. Hmm there’s a lot of home made lunch items as well. Its not super cheap but,the food is very hi quality and the establishment is very clean. The service is friendly enough and the owner is a actual human being and not a robot like you may find in a Starbucks or Blenz coffee house. The staff I have encountered there are also friendly and courteous. Go early for the best selection as the place has a loyal and steady clientele and product turns over quickly.
