Good service / family run business so can be slow at times Good food/ not a fan of the Tom yum soup though Family friendly but the layout is weird Really hidden in the corner/ won’t notice it unless you’re looking for it If i had to choose 1 dish : samba wings Would I go back ? Yes
It’s not as bad as it sounds, especially if you don’t mind non-authenticity lol, heard Cantonese-speaking chefs…ah, who knows, maybe there were trained in Malaysia.Against my judgement, ordered the Tom-yam seafood, the sourness way too powering. But a good place if you’re craving this cuisine in the summer, good views. A bit hard to find from the street as it’s in the back corner.
Inauthentic food, exceptionally oily even for Malayasian cuisine. Flavours were lacking from both curries ordered. Quality of the meat was low and skewers were dry. Will definitely not come back. Would rather order Malaysian food from a food court.
Value for money Malaysian Cuisine. Food is average but not the viewsI don’t remember but the dish that I ordered had too much oil (it was floating on the side). Cost for 2 would be around $12Try their veggie options, veggies are better here!
Kari House serves up tasty Malaysian food at decent prices in the Steveston area. The service was kind of slow when we were there. The appetizers took around 15 – 20 minutes to arrive at the table and the entrees took roughly the same amount. The food came in sizable portions and with the right level of spiciness. For the uninitiated to Malaysian cusine, some dishes are oily due to the sauces used. The prices are great – each dish sits around $10-$15. What’s great is that there are ‘upgrade’ options. You can choose to add different types of proteins at a little bit extra.Great experience at Kari House and we will be sure to visit again! foodadventuretime.com
Worst food ever!!!. Lemon chicken small and tasteless. Screwed up our order. Curry lamb was chewey and drowning on oil. Please don’t waste your money here!!!!!
Nice and Spicy Foods From Southeast Asia. This is another place that is family run. This is a Chinese Malaysian Family that is cooking all the tasty food. Kari House is know for their curry dishs. I love the Yellow or Red curry dishes. The Chicken Curry is very good here. Just like the Xyclo Vietnamese Restaurant, their curry dish is excellent, but to some people it might be very hot.People in Southeast Asia and South Asia like spicy food. This is not a fast food place, but their services are good and the food come out fast. This place is near the river, so the view is not bad. It is the only Malaysia Restaurant in the Steveston Fishing Village Area.It is walking distance from the bus stops in Steveston and Parking is not that good. Their are too many people who like to drive in to Steveston.
