This is a fast food shop located located down in the Internal Food Court at the University Village at UBC. They have a menu consisting of popular Mediterranean dishes. I had their Beef Donair Wrap and Roast Lamb Plate. I found their wraps to be quite flimsy and literally tore when I tried to pick it up (not something that I’d recommend eating on the go); taste-wise however, I did really still enjoy their food. Their prices are also very reasonable. This is a spot at UBC that’s definitely worth checking out.Beef Donair Wrap ($6.80):3.5/5Taste-wise this would have been 4/5. The beef was quite tender and well-seasoned, the vegetables all tasted fresh, the pita bread was fluffy and chewy, and the sauces were flavourful. Unfortunately, my main complaint with this wrap is that it was pretty poorly made: it literally tore and all the fillings fell out when I tried to pick it up and eat it like a regular wrap (granted, I do have sausages for fingers, but still). I ended up just eating all the fillings and the wrap separately.Roast Lamb Plate ($10.95):3.5/5All platters came with rice, potato, pita, salad, and tzatziki. The lamb itself was very tender and quite well-seasoned, and didn’t have any gamey flavour that usually puts me off. I did find there to be a bit too less meat (it contained a large bone), but for the price I really can’t complain. The salad was a bit bland and stingy on the feta, but the vegetables did taste fresh. The rice was a bit too soft for my liking, but flavourful, and contained beans and chickpeas. The pita was again soft and fluffy, and the tzatziki thick and tangy. Summary:Food: 3.5/5Price: 4.5/5Service: N/AOverall: 4/5Recommendations: Roast Lamb Plate, Beef Donair Plate (wraps are messy)

Best place to eat in the UBC basement food court. The Shwarma plates are huge portions and the meats are very tender. This is for a quick food grab no fine dining here ahha. The boss man knows ands will hook you up plenty.

If we ever stop by the UBC basement food court, Petra Cafe is the only place well buy food from. Not only is the food good, but the portions are huge and for low prices. We usually get the lamb plate; this meat is nice and tender and combined with the rice, salad, and two different sauces makes for a hearty meal. There is usually a line-up but service is really fast here so you wont be waiting long for your food.

The first time I crossed this place, I asked if I could just order a side of the delicious chicken leg stew/curry. He politely declined me so I didn’t come back for a while…until Today. And I was IMPRESSED with the food….The chicken leg was tender and perfectly cooked in a mild sauce, with optional hot peppers on top. They served this on a bed of typical mideastern rice, potatoes and my favorite FRIED EGGPLANT slices. I will definitely be returning…

Love it. Food is fresh, very delicious and original. I am visiting UBC and was looking forward to eating shawarma and falafel. Exceeded all expectations!

Best food for <$10 at UBC. I came here quite regularly after discovering it this past year. $8 for a huge wholesome plate including meat, rice, greek salad, pita, and tzatziki is impossible to beat at UBC. The shawarma chicken is excellent quality, juicy and flavourful. The guys that work here are all friendly and love to pile on the food (almost to excess) once they know you are a regular. The roast chicken is very good too, the owner clearly knows what he's doing when it comes to this cuisine. Ask for some roast eggplant with your plate.
