I am a regular customer and have been disappointed with the recent condition at the Delly. The specials used to be pretty great here but to my dismay have lost its charm. I ordered the expensive deep fried tofu on creamy sause paying a whooping 13 dollars only to find a disgusting blend of old food which I would not even pay 4 dollars. It was full of raw sprouts and bell pepper probably to cover up the disgusting, tasteless and craplike soup.. The instagram picture falsely led me to this item. Advertising a garlic bread in the pic while giving out a regular white bread with garlic spread..what a special… next time taste your fu**ing special before even saying it is special.
This is a popular, long-standing deli that is now located on the ground floor of the AMS Student Nest. They serve up sandwiches, Indian food, and a good variety of pastries and other food. I had their Delly Chicken Sandwich and a Shahi Paneer. I quite enjoyed both dishes, and their prices are fairly reasonable. All in all, this is definitely a solid eatery in UBC.Delly Chicken Sandwich ($8.50):3.5/5This comes with your choice of bread, vegetables and cheese (I had sourdough and cheddar). The chicken was very tender and juicy, and although not exactly crispy, it did have a nice texture from the breading. It was also well-seasoned. The rest of the sandwich was good; nothing to rave about, but still enjoyable.Shahi Paneer ($9.50):4/5This comes with your choice of either brown rice or basmati rice; I went with the basmati. The rice was perfectly cooked and had a nice firm texture that stood up well to the curry. I really enjoyed the curry, which was creamy with a nice bit of sweetness; I would have liked to have just a bit of heat to it. There was a good amount of paneer cheese, which was creamy and tasty.Summary:Food: 3.5/5Price: 4/5Service: N/AOverall: 3.5/5Recommendations: Shahi Paneer
Was here a while back with some friends and they said they loved coming to the new student union building for food. They recommended the Delly because of the extraordinary sandwich sizes and wide array of food options. Me and another buddy were vegetarian so I was a bit skeptical upon entering but can I say OMG this place has got it all. Curries, wraps, soups you name it this place has got it. I used to always see huge lineups behind this place and now I understand why. Staff is always great too, tons of cute girls and guys here;). If you’re here on campus and are looking for a new food location this is where you’re gonna find the newest, coolest food around.
This place is absolutely incredible! If your on campus inside the nest at ubc, you have to come eat here. The curries are phenomenal, very addicting. All the hot snacks inside the case are ready to go items if your in a hurry. The salads in the grab and go case are my favorite, along with any kombucha drinks. I never forget to grab a yogurt either. This place has all my needs. I don’t know what I would ever do if this place shuts down LOL. I come here daily. If your a coffee lover, a serious coffee lover, you need to try their moja organic coffee beans. Their shots of espresso is bold in flavour. It reminds me of European coffee. Get the guy with the moustache to make your latte or mocha, he knows how to do one properly. He’s from Europe.I talked to one of the owners, since I’m a regular. He mentioned they are doing chef’s corner here. New and exciting items made on spot daily, like a feature item from one of their chefs. I can’t wait. I love it here. If your a student here at ubc you need to check this place out. They have been feeding the campus for over 40 years! Holy smokes…This is a must, a staple for students on campus.
