This is the only pho place in UBC so it has a kind of monopoly. However, it’s still OK but could use some improvements. They have food court style pho which is different then restaurant pho as the bean sprouts are already in the soup and they give no basil or lime. It has all the basics of pho down but it doesn’t have much that sets it apart. I do like that you can make the soup spicy, and because the owner works the cash register, you can easily customise. For example, adding more vegetables or meat for a price.
Vietna is the only place where you can get pho on campus. On this particular day though, we ordered the lemon grass chicken instead. It comes with the lemon chicken, rice and spring rolls for less than $8, which is pretty good value. You do get a pretty big piece of chicken, taste wise it was decent but it was very oily, which made it hard to finish. The spring rolls were average at best. Overall the food isn’t bad but not great either, next time we might try the pho.
