One of the cleaner Chinese restaurants in the mid-range pricing (not including the fine dining ones). It seemed to be renovated recently. The food was not super oily which was appreciated. Our table ordered the set menu. The chilled Hainese style chicken was a bit dry but flavourful. The fried rice was really plain with only dried scallop and egg, but not oily. The steamed fish was delicious. Overall it was a decent Chinese restaurant considering how many I’ve been to in the city. I’m not a fan of Chinese restaurants but if I had to pick, I would recommend this place for a family gathering. Also, keep in mind parking is quite difficult here. There is a parking lot that fits about 6 cars, rest is free street parking on Kingsway and surrounding streets. curiouslycarmen.com

Come Along was our venue for dim sum recently. Though familiar with the restaurant and location, we had never dined there. We arrived shortly before it opened its door at 9 am, and were able to park directly in front of the restaurants entrance. We were greeted cordially, and service to our table was friendly and as attentive as wished. We liked the ambiance of the place, and though quite large, really did not feel that way, as tables are arranged quite close together. What we (as a threesome) ordered, and shared: the house tea steamed prawn dumplings steamed peanut meat mixed vegetable dumplings steamed mini sticky rice wraps steamed beef balls steamed chicken feet w/black bean sauce deep fried tofu with shrimp deep fried meat dumplings special steamed beef flour rolls. Except for the tofu dish, and beef flour rolls, we ordered dishes that we were well-familiar with, and had ordered frequently from dim sum offerings at other restaurants. My considerations of the preparations, on a dish-by-dish basis: Note: all dishes were served from kitchen to table too cool for my liking.- Good to Ok chicken feet (meat tender, sauce flavourful, and tasty – small portion size) deep fried tofu (tofu creamy, coating not overcooked, sauce and total dish flavourful, and tasty – decent portion size) beef flour rolls (thin and silky rice flour wraps, tender beef – decent portion size) rice wraps (rice fine, minimal other ingredients, rather bland in flavour and taste – decent portion size).- Poor meatballs (dense, rubbery, highly-overcooked, poor flavour and taste – decent portion size) meat/peanut/veggie dumplings (thick and tough rice wrap, minimal filling lacked distinctive flavour and taste – decent portion size) prawn dumplings (ok rice wraps, ingredients just very tightly-packed balls of small shrimp, overcooked, tough, and tasteless – decent portion size) meat dumplings (coverings ok, ingredients minimal, overcooked, and lacking in distinctive flavour and taste – decent portion size) tea (having to pay for it, imo, seemed a touch unreasonable, considering the kind of prices being charged for all the food dishes).Overall dining experience liked the place, and the service provided, but had difficulty truly-enjoying the preparations of several of the dim sum dishes ordered.
