My goooodyness. This place is awesome, fresh baked goods like your mom used to make when you were a kid. They also gave me a couple samples to try when I told them it was my first time in. Thumbs way up.
Hospitable. I showed up closer to the end of the shop’s hours so there weren’t much product left. I asked about their gf/vegan/no added sugar options and was surprised to know that I could have a chocolate cupcake with green frosting. She asked me if it was my first time visiting and I said yes. Then she handed me a pistachio cookie on the house! I sat outside on the bench and enjoyed my treats as people packed in busses watched and judged me. She popped out and asked if it was good and if I had everything I needed (it’s not even a restaurant). The cupcake and frosting were on the dry side. But her hospitality and generosity are on the great service side.
I haven’t found a more delicious gluten-free chocolate cookie yet. When I do finally find one I am almost certain I will wake up and it will have been just a dream anyways.

I’m on a mission to find the best bakery in town and this could very well be it. I’m not gluten intolerant so I don’t *have* to eat the gluten free pastries – I eat them because they are so delicious. I’ve had a raspberry pie, thumbprint cookies, a cupcake and pain au chocolat there and it all tasted like it hadjust come out of the oven. Better yet it all tasted like I could list every ingredient and butter would top the list and the list would be short. I suspect they might have sliced their own almonds for the cupcake, that’s how detail-oriented they seem to be there. The pain au chocolat was too dry, not crisp or rich enough – I haven’t had much luck with it in Vancouver – but everything else was impressive. I’m so happy to have found this place and plan to try everything there at least once.

Heaven at last!. I’m a couple months into a gluten-free diet. East Village Bakery puts the other gluten free places to shame by an enormous margin! Their bread is as good as real bread! Their bakers are Gods! And their customer service is exceptional too! Bravo!
