Family owned and it shows. In a good way! The food is simple but very tasty. Nothing is done with excessive oil or salt so I always feel good after eating here. I dont eat meat and I have two friends who cant eat gluten. We all have an easy time ordering here… even the Chili Relleno was gluten free last we asked. This is my most visited restaurant 10 years running. To be fair I do live close by.

I haven’t been here in a while and I am going to have to change that my next trip to the Mainland. I used to head here regularly when I lived in East Van. Often I was the only customer in the place, so I am glad to see it is still operating and people have caught on. El Pulgarcito, like a lot of good Central American places I have been to, is no frills dining. It is clean, spartan and low key. The whole menu is worth trying, but I encourage you to try the sopa de pata menudo. We really need a place like this in Victoria.

I love this place. Burritos are excellent, not like those quick tex mex places that keep popping up. Enchiladas were great too. Tacos were good. I still need to sample the rest of their menu but I keep going back to their burritos since I come here when I’ve had a long day and need some comfort food, and I have yet to be disappointed.

Had dinner here tonight. It was pretty good. Started with the chicken tostadas and would definitely eat them again. They were awesome. For my meal I ordered the large beef encheladas and they were very good. They came with a side of beans, rice, and some kind of salad, which I ate, so it couldn’t have been bad. I would have preferred getting one large enchelada over three small ones, but that doesn’t affect the taste at all, so who cares. The service was really good too. No complaints from me. I will be back.

Was heading for Pho when we saw this little joint, it does not look like much on the outside, but the host and owner Hector was very pleasant and the food was very fresh, tasty, and reasonably priced. The Beef Soup was especially tasty, and the beef in the beef tacos were generous and tender.

Wrong time?. I wanted to try Bo Laksa but was closed. As we went down Hastings St. I saw this joint and I remembered the high rating. So we decided to try this place.I ordered chicken dish that I had to admit was very good. The meat was fork tender and succulent. Though the rice and salad accompanied the dish was pretty generic. I would have gave the positive rating if my judgement was based on the dish I ordered, but the food they served to my husband was…beyond substandard. He had the pork burrito. When he told me his pork inside is very hard, I thought the meat was overcooked. I was wrong. The meat was over DRIED. My guess is that meat had been under the heat lump or something like that far too long. It was hard like a beef jerky. My husband told me he gave me the part that was relatively soft. According to him, some part was bone hard and I believed him. The burrito supposed to have rice as well but we couldn’t detect any. It was just jam packed with jerky-bone dry meat. Also the sauce on the meat was very very concentrated I mean the taste was too strong…like a bouillon cube. We don’t like wasting food so it is rare for us not to finish the dish but I told my husband that it IS the health hazard to eat that considering the amount of salt it must contain due to overly reduced sauce. We ended up sharing my tasty chicken.Honestly, I couldn’t fathom why the cock who made the tender chicken would have allowed to serve such a disaster. It was like the cook wanted to get rid of the old meat so he/she stuffed it up in my husband’s burrito. Beside that, the serving time was very slow. We waited about 30 minutes before the food came. I was wondering how they could deal with the lunch crowd. I see the place keep getting a positive review so our experience could have been a exception but it was such a memorable bad experience we have no intention to try this place in the future.
