So. Much. Pancake. I thought this place was amazing at first but then I’ve explored more breakfast places and it’s just okay. The food was good but not very exploratory and I enjoy unconventional pairings sometimes or new ideas or spins on old takes. Wouldn’t be against going back because maybe they’ve changed in the last few years!
A little trip down memory lane to my days in Vancouver, when I enjoyed a hearty breakfast with my friends after our exams…Small diner style restaurants have always fascinated me, due to their personalized home-style service, the cozy and comfortable atmosphere, amazing food, and great prices. @jethrosfinegrub is one such place and it was a perfect way to end the school year on a high with good food and great company. On the Menu:Jethros French Toast. Thick cut challah bread, dipped in egg, and griddled crisp. Topped with whipped butter. When they say thick, they meant thick, the bread was beautifully soaked in the batter and tasted brilliant.Price: CAD 8 / AED 22Rating: / 5Grandmas Pancakes.Cinnamon apples baked into their buttermilk pancake batter. Topped with streusel and served with whipped butter. These babies were delicious, and the warm apples, and the crunchy streusel were the most amazing combination. Also, butter makes everything AWESOME!!!Price: CAD 13 / AED 36Rating: / 5Location: 3455 Fraser Street, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, V5V 4C4.
Disappointed in my experience at Jethros. Not sure why the place felt like an icebox. It was so cold in the restaurant that even the waitress was wearing her coat. My coffee was not hot, only warm. I ordered the crab cake Benny. It too was only warm and the hollandaise sauce was splitting. The crab cakes were flaccid and could have used some searing to make them crispy on the outside. My companion ordered the apple crumble French Toast. It was very large and did look tasty. Considering my eggs Benedict cost $17 and $3 for coffee, I would say this wasnt very good value. The service was very good though.
