Better quality sushi than most places in the area but service was not friendly. We ordered the sushi and sashimi combo; it had more than 15 pieces of nigiri/ sashimi but was given a teaspoon of wasabi. When we asked for more, we were told it’ll be on the next combo we ordered…which didn’t make sense. (What about the sushi that was already served on the table?!) We asked the waiter three times before more wasabi came. The cashier/manager gave us the stink eye/stare when we left even when we said thank you to her. Very unpleasant and won’t be coming back. They treat wasabi like gold here. If you don’t believe me, ask for more next time you go.
Kimu is a pretty solid Japanese restaurant in this neighbourhood – not much competition around. The restaurant is spacious with many tables and chairs. Expect a line-up during dinner time on the weekend.Overall, we enjoyed the food that we ordered. We got to try some rolls. Every single bite of these food is pretty standard – nothing special. The pricing and portions are pretty reasonable.
Great neighborhood sushi spot! It’s Japanese cuisine with a Korean influence, they have a few items on the menu that you won’t find anywhere else, such as the dontoro roll: tender grilled pork belly rolled up with asparagus and topped with kimchi. Or the spicy chirashi don which is basically an affordable poke bowl with a good helping of seafood, salad greens, rice and a spicy gochujang sauce. The nigiri is so-so, both times I’ve eaten here the rice was pretty dry and lacking seasoning. Beers are cheap and the staff are super friendly! Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area
Bad service and bad food. The wait was long and service was really slow. The waiters were inattentive and never refilled our tea. The aburi sushi was just not good for the price. The shrimp one tasted like pizza because it had cheese with it. Super weird! You can get much better aburi sushi in Van for same or cheaper price. The menu is very westernized and basic. They try to do these fusion special rolls but it doesn’t taste good at all. The Bomb roll was literally a bomb of disaster. The sauce doesn’t mix with the rice. Nothing stood out from the menu that makes this place worthy of trekking to this middle-of-nowhere location. Do not recommend.
Tried this place for lunch today and thought it wasn’t all that great. I ordered their Alaska Roll and Mango Prawn Salad. The Mangos in the salad were a little powdery at first bite. The salad, didn’t have much flavour, so I asked for some Ponzu. Unfortunately, I was charged a little. Although, it did help with the overall taste. And, lastly, the Alaska roll was nothing special, even though they used real crab. The roll didn’t have a fresh taste. It was kinda dry and bland.Don’t think I’ll be back anytime soon.
