There’s no such thing as over-ordering in my vocabulary! The authentic specialty noodles are bomb in Van. Can’t get enough of the bun cha ga aka fish cake noodle soup and hubby introduced me to the bun mang vit hoac ga aka duck and bamboo noodle soup. I also wanted the Viet sub but unfortunately, I cannot have pate. The chicken sub was really interesting, had some coconut flavour in it which is a change from what I’m used to in YYC.Sep 2016 rating 4.5/5My BF used to live in Vancouver and was eager to take me here as we both love authentic special Vietnamese soups.I forgot what my bowl was called but it has a side of steamed duck on assorted shredded cabbages/veggies and a side of fish sauce with a bowl of vermicelli in soup. You can eat it as a salad with the fish sauce as dressing or put the duck in the soup. The broth is actually very good. My BF had the fish cake soup and that was excellent. We also ordered a banh mi on the side for $3.75, so cheap!Overall I like this place. The only problem is the ventilation inside as its extremely hot even with their front door open.

BAD service & food is lousy. It used to be good, however, now a day, not too many customers. First of all, I don’t eat pork, I ordered the #23, seafood & pork noodle soup. I’ve specifically asked them not to have pork. The waitress brought me my soup and surely, there are a lot of ham (AND ONE PIECE OF SHRIMP & a shrimp cracker) in my bowl. I’ve told her that i ordered it without the pork and she said to pick out the pork. She said ‘the next time, just ask for seafood ONLY’.First of all, when I ordered the item on the menu (#23 seafood & pork) WITHOUT the pork, shouldn’t that clue in as seafood only?Anyway, i’ve told her that there’s no seafood in my soup, she asked me to dig DEEPER and finally I’ve found a shrimp. She said, there you go.I was so pissed…I’ve NEVER EVER EVER go back there again. She is rude and because of that, I will never recommend anyone to go there again. Here is the picture of the pork that was in my bowl.

This place is one of the pho joints that has the best soup. Despite the popularity at bau chau that’s nearby, I still prefer the noodle texture and the soup at le do. Points deducted for small portion of the dishes.

This has been my family’s go to place for authentic Vietnamese food since I was a kid. This place used to be packed everyday during lunch hours for as long as I could remember, but things have changed, and they’re quite slow nowadays. There is really nothing bad to say about the taste of their noodles whether it is with soup, or without. One of the main reasons that we’ve cut down our visits is because of their relatively high prices. Of course, it is reasonable to increase the prices once in a while since living costs in the city is always inflating, but at lease give the customers the amount of food they are paying for, or at least a decent amount to fill someone’s stomach. As the prices increase, the size of the meal only seems to be getting smaller and smaller, to the point where no one at our table is filled after finishing a ‘large’ order. They really need to look into this issue, or business will only go downhill from here on.

Solid Pho Option in East Village. Tried Le Do for a late lunch after reading some reviews. It’s located in the East Village next door to the Red Wagon. The restaurant is clean and comfortable. The area has so many good food options within a 2-3 block radius, Le Do is no exception.I had the Pho Tai and, as other reviewers have stated, the broth was flavorful and earthy, with little if any MSG. Noodles were cooked perfectly and there was just the right amount of cilantro and thinly sliced onions. Fresh bean sprouts, chilli oil, lime and the usual sauce/condiments were available. The portion was average for a Large and the beef was just enough. If you’re really hungry, you may need to order a side dish to fill you up. Service was efficient, not super friendly, but the food came up quickly. Worth a repeat.
