I ordered Pasta with Penne and Cardinale sauce. Loved the portion size and the taste as it was significantly better than what I was expecting. Went there with a group of friends for a birthday so we tried the pizza and the calzone as well. I think overall everyone was pretty happy with their order and would definitely visit again. P.s: just one thing that I felt could improve is the wait time after placing the order. Otherwise, awesome.
We choose to go to Lombardo’s for the first time for our wedding anniversary. If you go on the weekend for dinner, make a reservation. Especially if it is a Saturday night which I did in the morning and we still ended up waiting. The fixtures and decorative lights are quite modern but the restaurant still felt cozy which is impressive. We decided to get Antipasto Misto which was a new item on the menu. A platter of Italian cheeses and meats that also came with bread, pickles, olives and tomatoes drizzled with balsamic vinegar. We enjoyed our nibbles slowly. Perhaps too slowly because soon our dinner was at the table! I do not think that has ever happened to me before. I started to feel a bit rushed?I am a pasta woman who loves her seafood so I ordered the Penne with Prawns, Scallops and Mushrooms served in a white wine garlic sauce, with a touch of cream. Reg got the most stunning meat cannelloni that he let me have a bite of. That tomato sauce was rich, complex and delicious. Foodie heaven! My dinner was good but it was so lightly seasoned I had to really go to town with the Parmesan to bring out those flavours. I might dare to say it was under-seasoned but with a heavy hand of Parm it tasted quite delicious. The service was great but wow Fast! Like so fast I felt like lingering would not be a tad uncomfortable.Lombardos has a cozy atmosphere that worked well for an anniversary dinner. I would suggest going later than we did to avoid the family pizza crowd so 7 pm or later for those wanting a quieter night out. I think this was the first time in my life that I was more dressed up than the patrons who mostly wore shorts and jeans so it is also very unpretentious despite the excellent food. I can see why this is such a popular foodie location for so many people. suziethefoodie.com
Lombardo’s is a little joint in Italy of Vancouver. I discovered this place by accident as I previously had plans to visit another pizza restaurant closed on Sunday due to the long weekend. I would have to say i was not disappointed. The service and food here is great. For pizza, I would recommend you trying number 11 (ham, mushroom and 2 kinds of cheese). I liked this one the most as I noticed some of their flavors don’t necessarily work well with others. I would stay away from ordering green peppers if youre looking to appreciate the flavor. The crust has a nice fire taste (not burnt) and good distribution of toppings (not too heavy). I’d recommend you give these guys a try.
We come here around 6:30 and are told by the hostess that there are five other tables ahead of us but doesn’t tell us the estimated time wait. Since we are pretty hungry, we decide to order to go. We order the large pizza: half of Cappricciosa and Salmone. It takes about 25 mins for us to get our pizza since there are several people ahead of us also order to go. Overall I like the taste of both flavour but the salmone is slightly tastes better. I like the capers on top of the pizza. The crust is a bit dry and chewy and the onions on the salmone is pretty raw, not cooked long enough. The Roma Campagnolo has better flavour and more tasty pizza crust and tomato sauce. It is a very busy restaurant but not worth the wait to dine here. I wouldn’t mind to dine here again but it is not one of my favourite Italian restaurants.
Delicious Italian food with wonderful, friendly service. Our neighbourhood dinner club came to this little restaurant for our monthly outing. Lombardo’s is now one of our favourites and we will certainly be back.
We spent 3 weeks travelling through Europe travelling through Paris and Italy. We really enjoyed the pizza we had in Naples and Venice cooked in wood fired ovens. The crust was thin and cooked perfectly not soggy or crispy. My favorite is the Margherita pizza.Upon our return to Vancouver, weve been searching for the similar tasting Margherita pizza.Lombardos Margherita pizza was very close with the same wood fired oven taste with the exception of the crust. Dont get me wrong but the crust was just a little thicker but very close to the pizzas I ate in Italy. If youre looking for an extremely authentic tasting Margherita pizza without travelling to Naples, Italy, than Lombardos is the place to go!You wont be disappointed!
