Fantastic beer selection, great patio, very cool flight design, tasty food but steep price for very small portions. I’ll be back for the beer but I’ll eat elsewhere.
Lemon meringue donut, as well as the sour donut. I would rate the lemon meringue donut a 4/5: very refreshing and rich. The sour donut would be a 2/5, because I had very high expectations. (My daughters review.)
The renovated space is less industrial and feels more like a restaurant. I’m not a fan of the communal tables. I’d probably only go when I know it’s not busy so I don’t have to deal with people sitting on top of me. The beer list is good and the food is good but the portions are too small for what you pay.
We came here before they closed for renovation. They had great beer, great Canadians around and great funky hipster interior design that fitted the environment in East Vancouver. We came here many times. If we came earlier in the evening, there were always seats and tables but if we came here later at night, oh man! It could be packed and we had to wait in line. We look forward to going here again once they have finished renovation. We look forward to seeing their new look and of course enjoy their beer!
Not to be confused with 49th and Parallel, Parallel 49 is a brewery tucked away in a corner of Vancouver. Although the neighborhood looked pretty shady and deserted from the outside, as soon as we stepped inside, I was taken aback by the lively interiors, the cute Halloween themed decor EVERYWHERE, and extremely friendly service. Now already being a fan of their Gypsy Tears, I wanted to see what else was good. They had a pretty wide selection that day. I chose Gypsy Tears, Pumpkin Chocolate Porter, a lemony one and Salty Scot. The porter was dark, thick, very nice. The lemony beer was so refreshing, it was like having slightly alcoholic lemonade. I tried Jerkface and Schadenfreude too, from my friend, and quite liked them. Also, how do they have the cheapest beer of anywhere in the city?! $4 flights and $3 glasses? Whaaaaa! On the cons side, they didn’t have much to eat. We settled for a warm pretzel.
