We went for breakfast at Lunch Matters today after reading the many positive online reviews. Can’t say my family and I were too impressed. Positives: central location, situated in a historic building, decent parking nearby, and good portion sizes for the money. Negatives: the restaurant is very noisy. The traffic noise from Highway 97 (immediately outside) adds to the noise. Being seated at a table by the door didn’t help. By the end of our meal, my ears were ringing from the restaurant’s noise. More complaints: the service was relatively slow and indifferent. It took a long time (30 minutes) for our food to arrive. The food tasted OK, but nothing amazing about it. I realize the restaurant is a family-owned small business, and I feel bad about leaving an unflattering review, but I don’t think we’ll go back anytime soon. If you want the old-style ‘greasy spoon’ experience, this is the place for you.
