The place where you add in your cream, etc. was FILTHY. I can be somewhat forgiving if it is a zoo at peak times and the staff has big lines to get through. But when there are only a handful of people in the cafe and no one in line and staff standing around chatting and looking bored, there is no excuse. The tables were all sticky and grimy, the washroom not very well kept, and to top it all off, my coffee wasn’t hot. Not a fan. Will not be returning any time soon.

Spiral Cafe. The food was very bad, soggy calazone. right from freezer to microwave. The coffee was from Canterbury and poor;y made. The place had a slightly self righteous hippy feeling and it was dirty. Gross. I was very disappointed, people told me how great this place was, wrong.
Always a great atmosphere and extremely supportive of local artists!
Grrfren and I enjoyed a couple good coffees and a muffin and bagel there. We enjoyed our time and treats there.
Good coffee, funky place, questionable service and food selection.. A funky little place with great coffee. The issue I have with Spiral is that is has a very poor selection of food items. Surely they can add a few more choices. Also it is not a nut allergy friendly place if you an issue with that, as do I. On one occasion I met a friend there for a visit, and found the music SO LOUD that we could not hear each other talk. I asked the waitress if she could turn it down, and I got a dirty look. She did not turn it down to a reasonable level. Whats the deal? Our we just suppose to perch and look cool without having any real conversation? I will never meet anyone here if I want a quiet conversation.I like all the art on the wall, and the music nights, and the coffee is great. There is room for improvement in The Spiral.
Good music…. Love love love living close enough to pop in for coffee each morning! Good treats and a good tea selection too! And some pretty fun evening gigs!
