This place has gone downhill so horribly in the last couple of years. My family and I used to eat here twice a week (Amrikko’s introduced me to Indian food in 2011 and I was instantly hooked!) and I keep trying to go back hoping the flavour will be there again but it’s just a watered down mess and yet more expensive as if the food has somehow experienced an improvement?!? I’m so disappointed to have lost such great bold flavours. This restaurant is 5 minutes away and now I’ll drive 30 minutes when I want Indian. Really too bad.
Where is everyone?!? I was the only person in the place for their lunch buffet, i couldn’t believe it, the food was fantastic! The naan was perfect and the beef vindaloo was amongst the best i’ve ever had, easily the best in Saanich and perhaps the best in Victoria! Definitely worth the drive!
We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner: chicken masala, lamb korma, spinach paneer and eggplant. It was a treat just going into the restaurant and smelling the aromas. Thank you!
Goan Prawn Curry made with North Indian Curry (no Coconut Milk). I had very poor experience at Amrikko’s today on 4th Sept’14. I asked this server if Goan Prawn Curry is really made Goan style for which he informs me that he is not 100% sure but others have told him that it is good dish. When I was served with Goan Prawn Curry it was made with very poor taste or purposely; am not sure. The curry had spices/taste of north Indian curry. Goan curry will definitely have coconut milk in it which was not there. The ambiance was also deserves a lot. It was very hot inside to the point that we all were sweating profusely. At one point I requested this server to switch on the fan for which he informs me that the fan is not working.Wish the owners good luck.Uday
Excellent staff and service. Loved the Bharta, probably the best in BC. The Desserts are also exceptional. A Must visit place for anyone who likes Indian food.
Thursday evening out. Three of us went there last night for supper. I believe neither the food nor the service is what it was when the place first opened. Still good food, but not quite the fine point it used to have. Going by what our waitress said, we were the first table of the evening, no one else came in while we were there, so we suffered from an overabundance of attention: the intrusions made relaxed conversation difficult and choppy. Then we were unexpectedly informed that the restaurant had been closed for some time, and would we kindly pay our bill and vacate so staff could go home.Perhaps the lack of clientele is a sign of somewhat decreased quality.
My favorite butter chicken and paneer in town!
