My husband, a girlfriend and I were at the pub for dinner and a few drinks May 3/19. Later on in the evening someone had projectile vomited all over the sink, mirror and floor in the ladies washroom. On my way out, I informed our server and another server who were standing together of the extremely large mess that required immediate attention. About an hour later when I went back to the washroom, the mess was still there – I informed the bartender of the atrocious disgusting mess that was still there. Stopped in to use the washroom one last time on my way out at the end of the night and the awful smelly mess was still there. I questioned the server and bartender on why the mess was still there nearly two hours later. I was given an extremely rude, and I felt inappropriate response, that there would be cleaners in later and they would deal with the mess and how could I expect them to clean up the mess and then return to serving food and drinks and how that wouldnt be Food Safe. I was absolutely blown away by this incredibly rude response and was mortified by the lack of respect shown by these employees who clearly felt cleaning up vomit was not in their job description. I strongly believe you can tell a lot about the integrity of an establishment by the level of cleanliness, including the washroom. We live in the area, and havent been in to the pub in nearly a year because of disrespectful, rude employees. This latest interaction confirmed our decision to continue spending our money elsewhere!

STAY FAR AWAY – Pretentious menu with outrageous prices accompanied by unrealistic wait time for food arrival. We are remodeling out kitchen so we are trying new restaurants nightly. The three of us had Shepards pie, Crab cakes and a chicken burger. The Shepards pie was a watery defrosted mess with only speckles of beef, the chicken breast burger seemed to have been missing part of the breast it was so petit but the Crab cake was good. Note that this was a pay day weekend and the pub should have been full but instead, and this was our first clue, was only 20 to 25 % occupied.
This was my first time to this restaurant. Certainly won’t be the last time. Sat out on the patio. Great service, friendly and attentive. Mediterranean chicken wrap was really good, came with fries. Chicken wings were awesome as well. Great finish to a busy week. Well done.
My husband and I popped in for dinner this evening after reading that they had Gluten Free options. The atmosphere and decor was very authentic. I was absolutely blown away with the amount of GF choices and how seriously they take it. Very reassuring. We both had the fish and chips which were really well done! Can’t wait to come back, and try another dish from the menu!
ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE NEVER GO BACK PARTY OF 12 THERE SERVICE HORRIBLE PRICES ABSOLUTELY OUTRAGES $27 FOR SMALL ORDER OF NACHOES AND 12 FOR CAESAR SALAD WHAT HAPPENED TO PUB FOOD IT IS A PUB ISNT IT i DOUBT THIS PLACE WILL BE AROUND LONG AS IT HAD A GOOD REPUTATION FOR A PUB NOW ITS TRYING TO BE A HIGH CLASS RESTAURANT AND DOESNT CUT IT PEOPLE WANT GOOD BEER AND PUB FOOD VERY DISAPPOINTING
This place has gone downhill in a big way. First off, my double Caesar was terrible. I can name a dozen dives in Victoria that can make a great Caesar. How do you screw that up! Next.., $27 for nachos? Are you kidding me? That is not a ‘pub’ nachos. The server even told us it was small. So we ordered the calamari and the kale dip because we were trying to share appies with 4 people. The ‘calamari’ was terrible. It looks like french fries and is underwhelming and bland. I have eaten squid in many forms.. This is bad. As for the Kale dip thing, the chips had zero flavour and the dip was meh. Drab. Boring. Waste of $12. So sad to see one of the old stalwarts of the GVRD make changes like this.. It’s a ‘pub’ – serve pub appies. $27 for small nachos????? What? Too many better pub options. My Dark Matter beer was great.. Well done Hoyne! Won’t return. Pic is of the ‘calamari’ French fries thing…
