I stopped in to buy a cherry danish this morning and when I arrived home and took a bite – it wasn’t fresh. The pastry wasn’t flakey. I was annoyed so I phoned the bakery and the lady who answered said they were fresh from this morning. I told her I don’t think so and she kept insisting they were fresh. Well I know what fresh tastes likes and this danish was not fresh.

OLD CAKE. Yuck..purchased three pieces of cake from Hillcrest. Frost bitten and stale. I thought bakery cake was supposed to be fresh. ..lots of baked items on display, they must just keep them sitting there until they sell. My cake tasted like the freezer. I’m so sick of these bakery’s NOT serving FRESH baked goods. The older lady that helped me was miserable. Next time maybe just maybe try to crack a smile. I won’t be returning and I definitely wont recommend to friends and family. I threw the other pieces of cake in the garbage. Waste of money!!!

Great bread. I’d like to thank Hillcrest Bakery for working with us to make the bread we use in our catering platters and some awesome cakes for special events.

Tasty, tasty. Only ever enjoyed the baked goods here, and they are my favorite! Nothing in this world compares to the vanilla slice. Affordable and a nice variety. Service is always pleasant, but sometimes they seem a little disorganized.

Not as good as it seems. Used to hang out there back in 2008 and 2009 mainly because a colleague liked their coffee (because it is not served in a paper cup!) and macaroons. The coffee is just OK and but never was a big fan of macaroons or any other bakery products there. Their cookies are good but very pricy. Other things are just average quality items and special to the neighbourhood which mostly consists of elderly. Tried their sandwich once. That one as well average quality but over-priced. Overall if everywhere else is close you might want to go there, otherwise I rather not get anything from there and that is why when my colleague was transferred somewhere else I never stepped in there again.

Deli. Late last summer we hired a new deli lead. I think if Nikolas Surette gave us a 2nd chance he would be amazed at the changes Raj has made!

Come for the bakery, not the deli. Went here for deli sandwiches the other day. Price was good but the amount of food you get for your dollar is extremely low. The baked goods though are exceptional and varied, the price of those has definitely enticed me back there.
