Great spot for lunch! Pleasantly surprised by Jan’s this afternoon. There’s loads to choose from and coming from the city we were eager to try something on the strip. They have a great little patio (about eight tables of 4) but we opted for a window seat inside. The service was very friendly and we were greeted several times and told to find a spot that we liked. The menu is varied with lots of options (burgers, salads, soups, mains & appies) so lots to choose from. They also had a large selection of gluten free options which was nice. We ordered the calamari (lightly battered/gf), fish and chips (gf, not greasy) and the clam chowder (gf, creamy but light). All were excellent. Nicely seasoned, hot and most important delicious. The service is casual but attentive and friendly. The room is clean and nicely decorated in a beachy, wine bar, Local art on the walls etc. I would definitely recommend Jan’s and look forward to going back for a glass of wine on their patio. Good value too! Nothing was crazy overpriced and we liked how everything is made in house. A great spot on the strip!

Was fairly disappointed here. There was really nothing much in terms of flavour and the choices were really limited. I also found that execution was off. In particular, their risotto was barely edible and many other items were under-cooked. I frankly had higher expectations for this price-point.It seems like they were just getting by on the overflow traffic in the area.

I’ve been to this restaurant several times: the food is always very good- and they have a variety of different options. They are very good about gluten free and other adjustments to meals. I’ve had many of their vegetarian options: although I wouldn’t recommend ordering to-go. The food steams inside its box and gets very soggy. I have had a few people say that the service is spotty though; and a few people who were made very uncomfortable when on multiple occasions the owner chastised employees in front of everyone.

Underwhelming and underdeveloped flavours. Trying to use its sauces to overcompensate for the lack of depth of flavour in the food. Appetizer platter was quite dry and bland, the accompanying sauces seemed slightly out of place. Mussels were microscopic but the broth had good flavour. The fries on the halibut and chips plate were cold and soggy. The coleslaw was swimming in dressing. The most disappointing fact of all was the drinks were WEAK! Even with a double shot this could not be cured. The Cesar was overly salty with far too little alcohol. For a meal that was nearly $200 for 4 people for lunch, I had higher expectations. Service was good but the menu needs to be stepped up to stay competitive in White Rock. onesortwos.com

Great location right near the water. The food was pretty good but relatively expensive for what it was. Open kitchen in the restaurant so you can watch Jan make your meal! Interesting and unique blueberry salad dressing.

Disappointing breakfast. Started with tea water not hot. Overcooked poached eggs even though I requested runny yolks, bacon crisp as requested but tasted poor quality and fatty, hashbrowns were the worst, chunks of deep fried flavorless potatoes that were also charred so suspect they were reheated, all food was on the cool side. Definitely will not be back , extremely overpriced for the quality. White rock local20 Apr, 2015Disappointing breakfast. Started with tea water not hot. Yummy!. Been here several times, and I’ve always a good experience. I personally like their calamari (has slices of fried jalapeno’s mixed in), and smoked salmon eggs benedict. Owners are always very friendly and servers as well. They change their menu up often and seasonally, as well they have wine pairing dinners now and then which are really fun.
