The food here is alright if you’re going in knowing you’re paying above average prices. The service there was not good. Taking our order took about 20 minutes because 2 of the waitresses were literally hired to pour water and nothing else. The real waitress that took our order only had to remember two dishes and managed to get one of them wrong. I ordered a crab cake egg benedict but got a salmon one. It was alright, sauce was a bit overwhelming. My girlfriend got a German breakfast. Do not order anything that says Beef and Brine on it…you will literally get a slice of spam for $13+.
This used to be one of my favourite restaurants, but my last two meals here have been incredibly disappointing. The food and service are great when the owner is there. When he’s not it’s quite lackluster. The worst meal I had was one of their beer pairing dinners. They tell you to be there early then made us wait AN HOUR AND A HALF for it to start. No apologies or explanations. The food ranged from okay to almost inedible. The portions were tiny and combined with the beginning wait and the long wait in between dishes we were starving by the time it was over. I may never go back.
If you are looking for consistently good food, good service and a good experience – head to Uli’s. When it comes to beach front restaurants in White Rock they really have it all: a great view of the pier and ocean, plus an amazingly run business that I have never been disappointed by. As a local who eats often at the beach, Uli’s is very frequently visited by us, and I am pleased to say that this restaurant never disappoints to live up to my expectations. Whether it is an extremely busy summer day or a nearly empty winter afternoon they make customers a priority. They handle large groups and families with children as well. Food wise I think they again are consistently fantastic. Their burgers (veggie burger included) are amazing and I have never met a single person who doesn’t like them. Also great fries, and appies. Every part of their menu is classic: simply delicious. Everyone is extremely flexible with meal adjustments and they are very helpful when it comes to accommodating allergies. GF. Vegetarian, vegan, dairy free, you name it: and they are happy to provide what you need. Always helpful, friendly and efficient staff, and my #1 recommendation for a beach restaurant in White Rock.
A good restaurant. However recent changes in the kitchen have compromised food quality and prices seem to have been bumped up. Still good just used to be great.
The only year-round, reliably-good brunch, lunch, and dinner with a view on West Beach, in the non-ethnic category (Cosmos and Don Asian Kitchen are the keepers in the ethnic category). Just forgive them for not having an espresso bar… Instead, pick up your breve latte at Small Ritual on the way. I give it a 4.5.
I see you’ve converted back to your uncle ben’s minute rice for the paella? Theawfulamount ofturmericfor the yellowing of the rice instead ofusingsaffronwasatravesty. For a classic peasant dish, the price sure wasn’t peasant-friendly. And i noticed you don’t list any of the shell fish in your dish so it makes an easy excuse to cheap out and throw leftovers in. Disappointing and uninspiring. I see how you stay afloat with your ridiculousprices on your alcoholic beverages. $9 for a mimosa…insulting. Sunny D and Baby Duck doesn’t cost that much.
I tried this place last night and thought it was pretty good. I ordered the Neptune Schnitzel and it included 2 large pieces of schnitzel with baby shrimp and I think it was Hollandaise sauce… the red cabbage and spaetzle complemented the schnitzel nicely (I wish there was a bigger helping though). Their red cabbage was the best I’ve tasted in any local German restaurant here and it had a nice vibrant colour. The drink list was pretty varied too and includes a great selection of European and local craft beers. We sat at the patio which was really nice and also heated. I would come back here on another beautiful day and just chill. everythingbutweddings.ca
