Big Star Sandwich has definitely taken my business away from any other sandwich restaurant by serving Gourmet level sandwiches and having great service staff. This location did earn a lower star rating on this visit but is still worth visiting for the food and service. First like New Westminster, there is no onsite parking option leaving you to illegally park in a neighbouring lot and walk over or pay for city parking. Second was that there were no napkins included with our to go order, a minor oversight which wont prevent me from returning if its convenient. Aside from these two things there was plenty of seating and it is nicely lit through ceiling high windows.
I wanted to like this place so much. Ultimately it is no better than Subway. The sandwiches were fine but just had overwhelming amounts of mayonnaise. There was very little flavour aside from mayo. It’s not expensive BUT for the mediocre quality… it’s overpriced.
First day of opening so I want to give it a try since I’ve heard of its location in New West and Burnaby but have never been. Located 3 mins walk from Surrey Central skytrain this place offers a few seatings inside and very clean given that it’s new. I ordered the large size Turkey bacon cheddar sandwich with a side of BBQ mash potatoes. I especially like this as I’ve never had BBQ mash potatoes. Size of the sandwich is quite large and with a drink of root beer, my dinner rounds up to about 15 bucks. If you just want the smaller sandwich without the sides, they come under 10 bucks. Sandwich is quite tasteful, not the bland cold ones we see at company functions. Worth a try.
