Definitely one of the best, authentic taste pho around! Although the place is a bit small, and would accommodate about 30-35 people. But other than that, food and prices are fair (lower than the pho restaurants I go to in Vancouver/Burnaby area. Been coming here with fam for 5 years almost. Staffs/owners are welcoming!
I like this place not as much as the pho place next door but it’s still good, I come here for the catfish and rice it’s very good and its tastes like home!
One of the rudest places i’ve come across, first phone call a lady stated that they were closed. (mistake one shouldn’t of picked up the phone.) so i called back guess what, they were open, but now they don’t deliver. strange their flyer says they are open 7 days a week 10am to 10pm and free delivery. In my opinion if you can’t live up to what you advertise, you probably shouldn’t advertise it
Where is the meat in my pho???? 5 or 6 tinny pieces of meat!! I won’t be back
Great food, amazing value. Whether I order in of take out, I always get an excellent meal here. The soup base is perfectly flavoured and seasoned. My personal fav is the rare beef pho. The beef is incredibly tender and shaved nice and thin. The spring rolls are always fresh and have a nice flavour that isn’t too strong. My only issue with Pho Hoa Hong is that I always eat too much!
Meh…. First off, I have to say that maybe my expectations for this place were a little high since it had 4 out of 5 stars. I mean, I’ve eaten a lot of great pho! Places like Gold Train Express II on West Broadway and Pho Goodness on Davie are, in my opinion, consistently great places for good pho and good service. What makes good pho for me is that the cooks took the time to build the broth’s flavours (at least 4-5 hours) and that the noodles are tender and not sticking together. After some subpar customer service and so-so pho at All About Pho in Surrey, I desperately wanted to find a good pho place near by! Unfortunately, Pho Hoa Hong scored a failing grade.Personally, I find the fatty cuts of beef to be unpalatable but I couldn’t remember which cut was the really fatty one. So I asked the waiter and he told me that the tendon wasn’t fatty at all! With his recommendation, I ordered a large #10 (rare beef steak with beef tendon) with a salad roll. I must say that the BEST part of the meal (by far) was the salad roll with peanut sauce. It really was one of the best salad rolls I’ve had, but the pho itself was very disappointing. When it arrived, my RARE steak was already well done…I mean, REALLY well done (tough even). The noodles were stuck together in a ball (that softened over time) and the beef tendon turned out to be the fattiest cut of meat! After the noodles separated, they were pretty good and the right chewy consistency, though, but nothing special.I was already saddened that I had this bowl of unappetizing fatty beef, so I picked around it at the tough cuts of steak. I’m of the belief that a waiter should probably be pretty well versed on what each cut of meat is like. He should have known that the tendon is really fatty and chewy so as to offer correct recommendations to customers! My first bite just made me even sadder: the broth was quite weak as far as pho broth goes. What WAS prevalent in the broth was just how much ginger and fish sauce they had used, which left me with an unfortunate aftertaste. I ended up munching more on the bean sprouts instead to cleanse my palate! I wouldn’t say it was the worst pho I’ve ever had, and their prices are quite good considering the large portions, but it did leave me a bit dissatisfied. :(All in all, I REALLY wanted to like this place just because I just moved so close to it. I may consider returning for their salad rolls or to try their other appetizers, but I’ve also heard Pho Tham next door makes a consistently good pho so I’ll be checking them out first.
Pho hoa hong. Pho broth tastes too strongly of 5 spice for me. spring rolls taste good but are super tiny. maybe i’ll try out more of the non pho items one of these days
