Nice little Mexican restaurant! Not on a main road but it is worth looking for. Makes me feel like I am south of the 49th! I’m not an expert on what they would serve in Mexico other than what I have seen on the Food Network but I have been to a lot of American Mexican restaurants, generally run by people from Mexico. I guess that is kind of authentic. This place has that vibe. Primary colours everywhere and some nice historical stuff on the walls. There were two salsa that came with the chips that preceded our meal. Both carried a nice little kick but nothing too challenging for the Canadian palate (Obviously, I don’t speak for everyone). I really enjoyed the tamales which contained a generous portion of shredded beef and the masa was nicely moist. My partner had the Chiles Rejenos and was disappointed that they were not deep fried. I found that in this pan fried version that the flavour of the poblanos really stood out. Filled with shredded beef and with a healthy blanket of melted cheese, these were delicious! Both plates were accompanied by the usual rice and beans and were a little on the plain side but that’s OK. I enjoyed them. Service was friendly and attentive enough.
