You get what you pay for here. I ordered take out for 6 and everything tasted the same. The chicken in the chowmein had NO flavor. Lettuce would have had more. Ok. I also know that chow mien has bean spouts in it. This nothing. Seriously never had such a boring order. No flavor None of it. Not even the sweet and sour boneless. We ordered garlic ribs, and sweet and sour boneless pork and they tasted EXACTLY the same. The only differance. was a drizzle of sweet and sour sauce with pineapple on top. Deep fried shrimp. Soggy and too much dough. So, we decide to go for the smorg. The wonton soup base. Like water with salt. No flavor. The wontons taste like pork fat. The crab legs in the smorg are a good size, but flavorless. Disappointing. I really wanted to give this resteraunt a chance. and have been there a few times. I will say that the mussels in the smorg are very good, and the butter on the side, throw on some of the hot chinese chili sauce, and its nice. But it is no where near my favorite place to eat. Might go back to the other place in winfield.
You will not survive unless!. I have advice for the owners/management. I hope you get a chance to read this it may save your business if it’s not already to late! First thing is teach your staff! at the end of the day they represent your business. I agree with most of the comments regarding the flavor in your food and msg is not the problem, anyone who eats at a variety of msg free establishments would agree. Back to training never ever put the new girl with young children! And when hiring kids 15-18 Remind them the plates are hot and don’t forget to put your dishes away when there done lol! Sorry had to through that in 🙂 I’m not sure but most places you dine in, water is the norm and for the price of dining here water should come with your meal or at least offered. Just so you can understand our experience 2 kids no water 4 dishes 3 mistakes + a bonus mistake on the mistake lol! No offer to compensate, not that I wanted the deep fried meal they brought instead but at least offer so the kids with no coloring books or no food could have a snack since they waited an hour for the wrong meal! I have to put kids to bed or I would help you more but there past there bed time due to a long wait at the restaurant Lake Country may not have many options but a couple mistakes could cost you when the demographics are at this scale. If you last for another 5 months I will be supprised and I think I will open my own also! if I can make money and throw 3 dishes away at 13 bucks per I won’t train my staff either. A good waitress/waiter can do 3 times the job as a rookie with no mistakes and 2/3 the price. Remember you get what you pay for and here you get even less!Your only good as your worst employee!
Will not be returning. Food for the most part was overcooked. Some of it tasted like yesterdays leftovers. Unfortunate because Lake Country needs some nice places to eat. The buffet selections were ok, but not a great variety. The waitress was pleasant and the decor OK and appeared to be nice and clean. Hopefully they will take some good advice from these comments and others that say the food was bland (cause it was).
Learn to use seasoning!. I ate at Chopsticks recently and I can’t believe how tasteless the food is. Bland like you wouldn’t believe. The cooks need to learn to use seasoning appropriately. I found the food to be overpriced due to the lack of flavour. Service was nice, but it didn’t make up for the food. It’s too bad MSG gets a bad wrap. People don’t know all the facts about it, thinking it makes them sick. Misinformation spread since the early 50s. This restaurant could use some msg.
Reserving judgement…. I had this place as a like previously, but mostly that as done out of spite for the other place in Winfield. The buffet was okay, but bland. Been here a couple of times and the only redeeming feature is the price. Otherwise the food is average in a sea of restaurants that don’t do much better than average. Rather than trying to please everyone, take some risks and give me some of your feature dishes to try, make yourself stand out. You’ve already got some serious competition with one of the newest buffets that have now opened up in Kelowna. Based on that, I’d have to give it a dislike for being the same (or even less on some dishes) as everyone else. However I have heard great about their eat-in and takeout dishes, so I’m reserving judgement until I get a chance to try those.
Awesome food. We have had take-out on several occasions since they have opened food was fantastic,large portions and great prices.i see other people stating the food is bland well maybe its because there is no msg.we found the food flavorfull and loaded with veggies.we also found their meat to be lean and not overbreaded. we have no complaints at all with this place and its way way better than winfield chinese.have eaten at several chinese food places and i would highly recommend this place.
Best choice in town, by far. This is fresh, tasty, affordable western style Chinese. unlike the other place in town, my guts feel great 2 hours later. excellent portions as well. buffet not as good as individual orders.
