I expect the best shawarmas to feed my appetite, and boy did this shawarma do the trick. The establishment reminded me of how Lebanese cafes in Lebanon worked, with the music and television turned on to authentic Lebanese entertainment, but the shawarma was amazing. For a picky eater, this would not be the best place to try your first shawarma, as it has very strong tahini and garlic flavors that might blast you away.
I ordered the Lentil Soup and had a choice between green and yellow lentils and loved the portion size (large) but was surprised at how watery the soup was (was expecting something a bit thicker). Moreover, the soup lacked the usual lemon kick that I’ve come to expect in lentil soups from places like this. The service was fast and the soup was piping hot, which I like, but I would’ve loved for the pita bread that came on the side to have been heated as well. I’d still go back for the falafel since I’ve not tried that as yet.
When I went for the first time the other day, I was pleasantly surprised. I got the falafel sandwich and was really happy with it. The falafels were really tasty, had a good crunch to it too. They also filled it enough to fill me up for lunch. Everything tasted very fresh. When I went back on a Monday, I decided to try their special of the day – moussaka Monday! It came with hummus, pita bread, a salad of your choice and rice but instead of having it with rice I got the quinoa salad instead. The entire thing was delicious. I really loved their quinoa salad. It was a bit sweet with some dried cranberries and cashew nuts. It went really well with the mousakka. This place has become a regular go-to place for me!
Best food downtown. Amazing vegetarian selections. My boyfriend and I stumbled upon the best place to eat downtown. This salad bar has amazing soup, salads, bread pies, specials, rice and sweets. I normally get the vegetarian platter which is Hummus, 3 salads, falafel, dolmas, and pita!!!! Lentil soup on the side 🙂 yummm We finish it off with a real cardamom Lebanese coffee and the best baklava in the city!!!!!! I ALWAYS GO HOME FULL AND FEELING WONDERFUL.Owners are so warm and friendly, food is tasty and fresh. Music is cool and it is a great location RIGHT BY THE LIBRARY!!!!!! 814 Homer st !!!!! go… try…. and you will be hooked. We are A+++
No Flavour!. Sorry but this one fell short. NO seasoning on the chicken, no flavour in the hummus or tahini, add to that, rice with frozen peas, corn and carrots? That alone makes this a fail for me. This reminded me of hospital food. That is something that a person should NEVER have to say about Lebanese food.
Chicken Shwarma is really good! Great to know there is a good Greek place near my place.
One of the best, traditional falafel I’ve ever had. Was just the right amount of content and spice, with ingredients you’d find in the Middle East. Will be back! 🙂
