Came here before seeing a movie at the Scotiabank. It is a great environment for a bite before the movie. Had the opportunity to try the Baked Foccaccia, Prosciutto and Arugula pizza, and Linguine Vongole.First off, the Bake Foccacia was nice, however the ratio of olive oil to vinaigrette was off. There was too much oil to vinaigrette making the bread taste off when you dipped the bread into it.Secondly the pizza was good. Unfortunately I found the crust to be too thick and pizza to have too much crust. The flavour was quite nice though. There was a good balance of prosciutto to Arugula. However would I come back here for a pizza, no. There is another place a few blocks away on Howe which is better. Finally, the vongole. I wish we did not have this. I love linguine Vongole but this was way too greasy for my taste. I also never got any taste of the leeks, so there was definitely an imbalance of flavours going on. The servers weren’t that pleasant to deal with either. It was difficult to bring any issues to their attention as I found they weren’t willing to listen to feedback. It took forever to get our bill and at that point I felt like the meal and service wasn’t deserving of a tip.
Loved it! Pizza is the right balance of toppings, cheese and crust (we like thinner crust pizza) and server really went out of her way to make sure we had a great experience! Highly recommend the vizuvio (spelling?) and they come around with FRESH parm as well which is a very nice touch!
Really good family place. Just flew into town and the kids were hungry and we didn’t want to venture to a chain restaurant. This place is half way between Burrard and Hornby. Nothing fancy, nothing special, just decent pizza and pasta. Crowd favourites. Huge portions and a decent beer selection. On a hot day, try to stay away from the top floor, as the pizza oven heats it up quick. Service was wonderful and kid friendly. Would hit it up again.
Another average Italian restaurant. Their pasta is ok (maybe a little bland for my taste) for the price but not the best tasty pasta I had tasted. Their pizza is actually not bad and I actually like their pizzas more than their pasta. Their pizza is not pizza hut type of pizzas, it is more like Italian made pizza. The service is either a hit or a miss, it really depends on who serves you there
Overall a positive experience. More shortly as soon as I get my battery charged I will complete this review. Hot olives – very good!Spicy meatballs – also very good. Inferno fettuccine- wonderful.
Cute little pizzeria…the Tiger Prawns and Scallops (I had mine with just prawns and the server was accommodating) were flavourful. I ordered the small margarita pizza, which I see I’m not the first to say, tasted like (kids, in my view) cheese pizza…ie…not even a flavourful cheese pizza. It’s pretty disappointing when the server tells you next time to order something with more toppings when what you are really craving is a zesty, but simple margarita pizza. The crust was great though. Service moderate…to slow.
I’ve been here several times over the years I’ve been in Vancouver. I always have a good meal and the pizza thin crusted and Woodfired! It’s right next to Scotiabank cinema so when ever I’m done a movie with friends it’s one of 3 places right there that I’ll drop into for dinner. A friend of mine had never been here and he throughly enjoyed it. Tonight we ordered 2 pizzas and the lasagne between 3 people. Plenty of food and we even took home left overs. The pizza is thin crusted and cooked just right in the Woodfired oven. It’s filled with flavor and they even add extra fresh parmesan cheese on top as well as fresh cracked pepper. I did a half and half pizza (Capricciosa and Pacificos), my friend went Hawaiian and Salsiccia. Everyone enjoyed their meals and what the restaurant lacks in atmosphere it makes up for in flavor. The waitress recommended a great bottle of wine and all around it was a lovely evening! I can’t fault this place. I guess the only comment I’d say is stay away from the black olives on the pizzas. They don’t use good quality olives, I learned that a long time ago and just get them taken off when I order. The ones in the salad are different and are great. Go here you can’t really go wrong!
