We just had dinner there and the service was great, very friendly. I must say the whole family thought the food was the best they have had in BC to date. It looks like they have great cheap daily specials. Give this place a try
We had originally wanted to order from another place on Burrard across the bridge, but the owner is on vacation for a few weeks, leaving us to look for a different place to order Chinese food. We checked out a fair amount of reviews and decided to order from Patterson Wonton House. I can’t tell you how happy we were with that decision! The order was quickly delivered and everything was fresh and hot.The hot and sour soup (part of a combo deal) was simply delicious and properly spicy/sour, with a lot of different bits added into a hot and sour soup as expected (tofu, cabbage, shrimp, beef, egg). The texture of everything was nice as well. I couldn’t stop talking about how good the soup was. 9/10The first main dish we opened and served was the sweet and sour boneless port. The sauce for the beautiful portions of boneless pork was spectacular and perhaps a bit more savoury than the traditional red-dyed sauce typically seen in these dishes. The pork was crispy despite being coated with a wonderfully sweet and slightly sour sauce which was perfect. Expect to find some green pepper pieces through-out. 9/10The next dish in line was the beef and broccoli offering. This dish was well cooked and was tasty. The sauce was a little thin for my liking and the beef not as ‘velveted’ as often seen in Asian cuisine. It was fairly run-of-the-mill but in no way bad or poor. 7.5/10The almond fried chicken was another hit-out-of-the-park and delicious. With a slight bit of soy sauce, I just ate this with my hand. I should point out that the pieces we had, had the most almond bits that I have ever seen when ordering this dish from any restaurant. I really liked it. 9.5/10The last dish we had was crispy house special chow mein. My wonderful other half was a big fan of this boc choy heavy dish (they didn’t skimp on the pork, squid, shrimp or beef though). The noodles were done to our liking and the texture difference between crispy and sauce was perfect. I will definitely order from this location again and see if it is consistent. The menu selection was great and offered some traditional non-western Chinese food which I wouldn’t mind trying the next time. Give this place a try!
Went there twice with my girlfriend from China and she said the food was just as good if not better. It was delicious and service was great. Really friendly environment and staff. Also good prices and large servings.
I started eating here because I live right about it but it is the best Chinese food in Vancouver. On top of that family run and everyone is soo friendly. Wonton soup is made fresh everyone right in front of you. Ask the fam what’s best 🙂
Greasy takeout. We ordered a few of their ‘Specials for one’ consisting of a veggie one with veg fried rice, a spring roll, chowmein and mixed veg while my friend ordered one with a spring roll, chicken chow mein, beef and brocolli and battered chicken. Overall, boring, very greasy and we both had terrible stomach aches that night. Didn’t bother to touch the left overs. Generous portions though.
Great food, great price and very friendly staff! Could not ask for anymore
Good food, friendly staff. Eating my take out box as I write this. First time here today. Its within walking distance from my office so I am glad there’s a joint I can get to for Chinese fare. Its somewhat Canadian Chinese fare mind you, but its good. I had their fried calamari with pepper and salt and albeit it was a tad salty, the crunch factor was there. The bok choy with tofu had the right consistency and I totally enjoyed the sweet and sour pork. With rice noodles on the side, everything came to about $8. In my opinion, its much better than the wok place at Pacific Centre and I love supporting family owned business. They also have noodles and congee that can be made to order. It appears their variety in the warmers changes frequently. Service was friendly and it appears they are progressing to taking debit soon. Will return for sure!!
