Soggy porkchop carbonara anyone?. Does the title sound appetizing? Of course not but unfortunately that’s what you are in for with Sidecar. The service, food and even the drinks were terrible and extremely overpriced. The worst dish by far was the carbonara that had overcooked noodles in a slimy garlic sauce with big chunks of what seemed to be an old pork chop. Even the prawns were mangled since they weren’t peeled properly. It was simply awful and I felt sick from the couple of bites I ate of it.I will also touch on the duck poutine. The fries and gravy were on par with what you would get for 5 dollars somewhere else but they charge 15 dollars for it because they give you a couple pieces of duck. Finally the food took over 45 min to arrive.I hate to be so negative but this place ruined our night and I would never return.

All the menu items are made from scratch. The lamb lollipops and the duck confit gnocchi quite simply put are amazing. Great place for a date or with a group. Oh, the beignets with Bulliet bourbon butterscotch …..well trust me.
Dine out vancouver 2015. So a couple girlfriends and I tried Sidecar for dinner on a Sunday night. Did you know that they are connected to cabana club? There is this really cool hallway/maze that takes you to their shared bathrooms and my friend pointed out that it reminded her of the Department of Mysteries (HP reference). It has a very Gastown, prohibition era vibe and the waiters dressed the part as well with suspenders and dress shirts. We all had the Brie and Roasted Garlic as an appy, which was really good! I was a little taken aback by the whole roasted garlic that was served and it was a little messy trying to get it on the toasted bread. But oh my gosh it was such a good combo with the panko brie! For mains we tried the chicken confit and the clams vongole. The scalloped potatoes were reportedly quite good, and the chicken was average but it should be noted that it wasn’t dry. The vongole was ok but I thought they should have cut back on the amount of onions they used as it was overpowering. The beignets were REALLY good. By this point we were all too stuffed to finish all of them but they were on point! I think this would be a great place for post-dinner drinks and pre-gaming before hitting a club on the Granville strip.
Love this spot. The duck gnocchi is delicious! It’s a duck confit on a bed of house made gnocchi. The beet salad and dapper mule drink are also good. I like the vibe of this place-it’s laid back yet lively. There’s a DJ that picks up the pace at around 10pm. Good place to be social but not go all out clubbing.
