My bro and I went to Smoke’s for a poutine fix. He liked the food from their location at BCIT. We ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger Poutine and the Nacho Grande Poutine. The fries here were alright, they were a little soggy and the gravy could have used more flavour. We only got a small corner full of guacamole in the nacho grande… There are so many places to get a decent poutine, especially in the Granville area. Overall I don’t think we’re going to be coming back.
Terrible. Worst poutine I’ve had in my life. I ordered the Philly Cheesesteak poutine. Couldn’t find any steak. Box was filled with onions, mushrooms and runny gravy. I make better poutine at home.By the way, I ended up with an upset stomach the rest of the evening.
Favourite place to come after concerts at the vogue. Decent selection of flavours plus hefty servings of poutine equals a delicious greasy snack of meal!
This poutine place gives poutine a bad name. We came here and ordered the beef deluxe and it was absolutely atrocious. The onions were smiley and mushrooms, undercooked. They COMPLETELY LEFT OUT THE CHEESE CURDS – and no apology. The fries were soft and soggy as well. Absolutely embarrassing. It was not even busy which led me to think why they couldn’t take the time to read the recipe. I probably should have taken a hint from the mostly empty booths, but I guess I’ll never make that mistake again. Will be going back to my regular La Belle Patate! Best poutine ever. Fresh ingredients and even better service!
Ordered two specialty Poutines – Steak Fajita (flat iron steak, onions, red pepper, salsa, sour cream) and the Prime beef deluxe (prime ground beef, onions, mushroom, peas)The problem is the Prime beef deluxe was sweet tasting like a dessert, very strange and hard to swallow. The Steak Fajita was a weird concoction of sauce and flavor.I didn’t enjoy the Poutines at all. Next time I’m going to stick with salty Poutine.The hours are killer. Any place that serves a veggie gravy for poutine instantly gets extra points for me. And they get even more stars if they make it well. Been here a few times and have tried almost of all of their veggie poutine choices. Loved each one of them so far. I love the fact that their gravy is not overly salty — something I can’t say about Belgian Fries on Commercial Drive.
