This sushi place is not good…I got takeout: Miso soup, vegetable roll, smoked salmon mango roll, and negitoro roll. The miso soup was way too salty and dark – I had to add hot water! The vegetable roll was bad – it was made of bag cabbage mix with some other veggies. Disappointing. The negitoro roll was cutely shaped like a flower but I’m pretty sure it was not tuna belly. The best was the mango roll – a California roll with mango and smoked salmon on it. There are many other much better sushi restaurants in town. I would not return.
I came across this place the other day while touring some visitors from out of town. The menu has a huge selection of rolls and the price is fairly decent. I ordered a bento box and found it to be average , nothing special. I would come back to this place to try the rolls.
Pretty disappointed as I had high hopes for this restaurant considering I paid $18.50. The Futomaki roll was small and had already fallen apart when I opened the package, miso soup was super salty, and the masago had fallen apart also. All this for 20 minutes at $18.50?!
It’s a good place to catch a quick, inexpensive lunch. The rolls are tasty and filling. I love the tempura rolls as the breading is crunchier than other places. However their rice is a bit dry compared to other places. The last time I was here it was like they didn’t leave it in the cooker long enough, which is probably due to late preparation. I hope this is only a one time thing.
Got a Special Combo C (Rocky Mountain Roll, 1 pc Salmon, Tuna, Ebi Nigiri sushi, 2 pcs Salmon Sashimi) and Alaska Roll. I liked their salmon sashimi but didn’t like the sushi rice. The rice was very dry, hard and wasn’t seasoned enough. It tasted like the left over rice sitting in the kitchen for hours without the cover on. I had the bad sushi rice from here last time as well so I guess they don’t make good sushi rice most of the time… Rocky Mountain Roll had too much sauces on top that I wished they used only a half of the sauces. I think it would make more sense to put less sauce for take-out rolls because the rice absorb all the sauces that stay on the bottom of a small container. I still like how they offer a variety of special combos and special rolls at affordable prices. Will come back to get salmon sashimi, but maybe not the sushi. sophiaeats.com
Worst sushi I’ve had in Vancouver. Their spicy sauce tasted like ketchup and was not spicy, there was another sauce used on their dynamite roll which had a mustard taste, and the rolls kept on falling apart.
Korean operated (owned?) Japanese restaurant. Cheap sushi, large portions. This is my go to for quick cheap takeout because dine in service is lackluster. Sushi quality is similar to like a Sushi California/Sushi Town, so not the best but still edible most of the time.
