Great happy hour! Sad to see they only got 3.2. Had the grilled squid that was perfectly grilled el dente and the vinagrette adde ld.nice flavours and the brininess of the olibe cut through the other flavours to harmonize. Ot was sooo simple and just well done.Saffron risotto balls was just a fresh explosion in your mouth. The hero of the dish was the sweet tomato sauce. It was bright, vibrant, tangy to the point of almost puckering your lips but you dont and a soothing after taste of just tomatoe. The olives again sliced rhrough the creaminess of the risotto, tangyiness of the sauce but didnt over power the other flavours. Great dish done well! This is what a happy hour should do, showcase the restaurant potential to entice one to come back for dinner which I defijitely will. The service was below par, waiter took waaay too long to take my order and to ask if i needed anything else. Oh ya the cab sav/franc blend was pretty good especially for $5!! Better than most happy hour crap reds

I don’t drink but the food here is so magnificent I keep coming back. Am positively in love with the gnocchi, and have also enjoyed the shrimp on grilled avocado, the green beans, the bocconcini salad, and the smoked fish. The pomme frittes were a wonderful surprise as they were double fried the way they should be and you could actually taste the truffle oil which never happens. I enjoy the fact that not everything on the menu is heavy handed with the spices; good food doesn’t need to be hidden. Service has always been attentive, even when things got really busy. And to top it off the prices are amazing for the quality and quantity of food and the fact that this is Yaletown.

Good with the potential to be great. This was our first visit to TWB. We shared a number of plates and everything was good. However it seemed that every dish was lacking in flavour. The grilled squid in lemon chilli oil was not lemony at all and the chilli was not detectable. The baby shrimp and grilled avocado was also missing the bit of citrus that makes both of the main ingredients flavours taste exponentially better. Overall, the service was prompt and you can’t beat the view. Prices were reasonable and portions were more generous than expected. We will try again soon. Hopefully TWB will punch things up in the flavour department.

Disappointing Experience. My husband and I decided to go to TWB for drinks and tapas. We were acknowledged upon coming in and were told to sit wherever we wanted. We like that about them since it makes the experience a bit more relaxed. However, it started to go down after that. The server took our order then after a minute another server brought our first order. But no cutlery and no drinks yet? We had to ask him to bring cutlery as if he couldn’t see himself! The drinks finally came when we were almost done with our first dish. We feel that the food is never warm enough which is truly disappointing. They also use the same tomato sauce on the merguez sausage and the meatballs (and the risotto balls too, I think?). Pomme frites were more like regular fries (too thick to be pomme frites) that you get at a crappy restaurant and they seemed like they were the end bits from Provence next door. No Parmesan cheese or anything exciting on them. The calamari though was good. We love the sommelier as she is genuinely friendly and knowledgable. Unfortunately we weren’t helped by her tonight. When we got the bill we noticed that our champagne cocktails were not 25% off (Friday special) even though they should have been discounted like they were the last time we had them on a Friday night. We asked the server but she argued that it was correct. I don’t think it’s worth arguing with your customers over $5 especially when they have a point. We wanted to ask since they were discounted on the bill the last time we ordered them on a Friday night. Tonight we were left with a bad feeling about TWB. We live very close to it and were quite disappointed about the whole experience. There are lots of great restaurants in Yaletown. It would be in their favour to keep their regulars. We’re not sure if we’re going to rush back there anytime soon if at all.

Great place!. We went to the Wine bar and ordered a bunch of tapas to share for a dinner. We had the mussels, the grilled squid, the grilled mushrooms, the grilled artichokes, the charcuterie plate and an order of bread. It was all wonderful! Our favourites were the mussels and the grilled squid. The bread was served warm and was delicious. We also all had an order of their cheapest bubbly (which was 25% off)For 3 people, all those dishes and the wine, it came to about $70. It was a bit more than we’d normally pay to eat out, not much more, but we liked it a great deal and would certainly be back. What’s nice is that they have cheaper bites so if you are really just going to chat with someone you can totally afford it.
