Yopo is a tiny little Chinese cafe in Yaletown on Homer Street. It’s perfect for lunch if you’re in the area and wanna tuck into some Chinese. It’s quite popular for quick lunches – both sitting in (very limited tables) as well as take out – so you might wanna go a little early if you’re planning to visit.I’ve usually stuck to the variety of noodle soups they have that come with various options of meats, or dumplings. The dumplings option was my favorite. Extremely flavorful broth, and pretty tasty dumplings as well. The pork dishes are pretty darn tasty as well, especially the fried pork chop with pepper. One of the ladies behind the counter is a little grumpy, so make sure you’ve got your order ready by the time you reach the till to place your order 🙂 gastronomicalgspot.blogspot.com

I had a craving for Chinese food and Yopo was close by my office. After waiting 10 minutes or so for my Chicken Chow Mein, I opened the box and was pretty stoked on the amount of food and how good it smelled. The noodles were nice and crispy but things went downhill from there. The chicken was undercooked to the point where it wasnt even pink but clear inside, and tasted really weird. I brought my order back to Yopo and the woman at the counter refused to believe the chicken was undercooked, without even opening the box to check it out. She finally gave me a new (vegetarian) order of Chow Mein but I definitely wont be heading back there anytime soon.

Arrived at 8:30 to see the tables were full with people eating, asked if I could make an order for take out and they told me ‘no, we’re closed’. Really? While the chef is still there and people are eating and it’s half an hour to 9, the posted closing time… Never coming back.

Dan Dan noodles is one of our favorites and we travel the city trying to find the best one. This place came highly recommended…worst Dan Dan we’ve had in a very long time. I cannot in all good conscience recommend this cafe to anyone. Avoid.

I’ve tried this place several times hoping it would be decent. Every time I went the food was ok. But until I got food poisened really badly I haven’t gone back. I’ve let them know that I did so hopefully they’ve made improvements since then!

Very Inconsistent. I kept ordering from Yopo. I would think sooner or later it will get better. And, sure enough, every once in awhile, the food would be delivered quickly and would be hot and well prepared. But, more often than not, the delivery would take well over an hour. The food would be bland. And there was always too much broccoli in their General’s Chicken. They did usually get the order right. It is unfortunate that there simple were no other Chinese restaurants in Yaletown.Because Yopo is a crap shoot at best. And even, at its best, it’s not that good.
