I wouldn’t recommend this place. I went for lunch, so I can’t speak for the dinner menu but it is old and outdated inside and very expensive for the quality of the food. I could have found better clam chowder in a can and the salad I got was nothing special either. I would come again and try dinner just because I like the hotel.

Not Recommended. While my visit to this place was not a total write off, overall it was not a good enough experience to warrant a return visit. This hotel has been around for a very long time. Originally it was the Birchwood Inn and after many years it joined the Holiday Inn chain. We showed up for a late dinner and when we got there,we were the only ones in the place. Another couple came in after us and left several minutes later without ordering…I don’t know what their issue was. The place looks clean and the room is divided into tables and booths. It is not an elegant look, but it is comfortable. About what you would expect from a Holiday Inn. A lot of neutral tones and cushioned seats that are covered in fabric. The server was great. She was engaging and enthusiastic. We were promptly seated and she was attentive with drink refills. The menu is not as large as I would have expected. They do have burgers, ribs, sandwiches, soups, salads and steak. There were several appetizers also listed. Most meals are in the $20 range. I was undecided between getting ribs and the NY steak. According to the waitress, the steak was the way to go. She said that some complain about the ribs as being too chewy. I picked the steak as did my dining companion. The meals come with soup or salad. I had the beef consomme. It was good, not overly salty and the cup was a decent size. I was invited to attend the soup bar for onion, bacon and crackers to add to my soup. The crackers were slightly on the stale side. My friend’s salad was also a good size. She said that the vegetables were fresh and crisp. The oil and vinegar dressing was a small pitcher of each to make your own. This brings us to our entrees. We both ordered the steak and both were an epic fail. My side dish was rice. It was simply dry, white rice compressed into a circular ball. The steak looked impressive…until I cut into it…we both ordered medium well and we were both served medium rare. We both sent our steaks back. Our thick steaks were replaced by steaks that were half as thick as the originals. This time both of our steaks were over cooked. They were both well done…no trace of pink. My steak was somewhat tough and didn’t have much flavour. At $22.75 it was a disappointment. Our server was apologetic for the severely under cooked steaks. Another employee came out to apologize as well. At first we thought he was from the kitchen, but we saw him waiting on another table, so we weren’t sure. We were given nothing in terms of a discount for the inconvenience. I won’t be back.

Extremely disappointing!. We just came home from having Christmas dinner buffet at Bell Bottoms. It was extremely disappointing and very overpriced for the menu. First off, we booked for the 6pm seating, and when we arrived at 5:50, they had already seated a large amount of the people so the food tables were picked clean. If they call for a 6pm seating, they should not allow anyone in until 6pm!!! The menu was sparse- they had a 4 foot wide hot table with toupe ham (ham chunks glued together), turkey, mashed potatoes, scalloped potatoes, cabbage rolls and stuffing. The salad table consisted of buns, cole slaw, caesar salad, a couple of jellow molds, a cheese tray, and a seafood tray consisting of a poached salmon and cocktail shrimp with coctail sauce. There was no pickle tray or any sort of pasta or potato salads, which are usually a standard at this sort of event. The coctail shrimp ran out by 6:30, and there was a lineup for the hot food of over 40 people for the druation. They were understaffed, short of food, and constantly playing catchup all evening. As our bill was a hundred dollars for two adults and a senior with no alcohol (and they charged us extra for a soft drink!), this was not a positive experience for us. Next year we will book at the Viscount Gort – they have a reputation for a far better spread, but the reservations fill up long before the Holiday Inn. Now we know why….

Great place to eat. Absolutely loooove the Eggs Benedict, they have the best hollendaise sauce in Winnipeg as far as I’m concerned! According to a sign near the front, they also use vita eggs which are delicious and nutritious, needless to say breakfast here is a huge hit!Service is always on point and staff are polite, professional and helpful. They seem to cater to hotel guests (kids eat free coupons, etc) but everyone is welcome, I enjoy coming here for breakfast at least once a month even though I’ve never actually stayed in the hotel myself. They also offer a daily all you can eat soup bar, and the dinner menu items and appetizers sound fantastic (though I have yet to experience any for myself, since they are not available before 5pm and I go in the mornings)The only negative thing I could say would be that the staff is sometimes frantically busy during peak meal times and there is often a line of people waiting to be seated, but the same can be said about any local successful breakfast place on a weekend morning. Overall I think they are a great establishment and I can’t believe there aren’t more positive reviews on here!

I’ve been to this restaurant a few times when family comes to visit and are staying at the hotel. My wife and I look forward to the SOS burger and the kids eat free under 12 – you can’t beat it. Most recently I tried the chicken curry with pilaf rice. It was good – reminded me of the same dish from a chinese restaurant style. I also had the Swiss potato soup which was fantastic! Staff were always friendly and using kids eat free coupons was not an issue at all.

Horrible. You know when you have a bad experience but end up returning to the place, give them a second try. Did that, then gave them a third try. Third was the last straw, after the server poured water on my fathers lap and was unable to apologize we very calmly finished our meal. I don’t believe in complaining inside the restaurant so we waited until we saw the manager at the till. We advised the manager of the issue and at that point she turned it around on us saying that we should have made a scene… HELLO??? Either way the food sucks and the service sucks. If your staying at the Holiday Inn… go elsewhere!
