The Swizzle Styx had lunch here this week and it was excellent. The service was fabulous and the place was packed. The food was great and very generous portions. Its a really cozy and lovely place with great food, highly recommend!
Started with the Caesar Salad, not bad but could have used a bit more garlic. Had the fish and chips… amazing!! Not greasy or heavy, wonderful home cut fries! The Grill Cheese short rib sandwich was a delight! The service was fantastic and we would recommend!!
Atmosphere: I have to say, I’ve avoided this restaurant until now because of its location. The strip mall it’s located in, alongside a Subway and Starbucks isn’t exactly the most appealing. Unfortunately this kind of translates to the interior as well; it’s nicely decorated, but at the end of the day you remain acutely aware of the fact you’re in a strip mall. Other than this, the restaurant was way too cold (we noticed a heater near our section, so clearly they’re aware of this – didn’t help much though). Otherwise, a nice looking place.Service: Both the host and server were friendly and helpful. The owner (?) also brought water and our food to the table, and was pleasant. Nothing exceptional, but certainly satisfactory.Drinks: Drink menu had a good variety of beers (including some decent craft options), as well as cocktails and wine list. We enjoyed one of their Tequila Sunsets, as well as a Sawdust City Amber Ale. Both were enjoyable.Food: We ordered the Capital Burger and fish and chips, respectively. Capital Burger was enjoyable for my guest, however I must say the fish and chips were a bit of a let down. I had heard very good things about them here, but I wouldn’t order again. Came with two medium size pieces of fish, which were alright but nothing spectacular. Fries were poor, and took away from the meal. Overall, not the best food around. I’d choose a number of options over their food choices.Overall: A decent dining experience, if you can look past the odd location. Menu is alright, food is decent if not a little over priced. Would recommend visiting once, but doubt we’ll be back soon.
Been to the Cap twice now. The first time was a few months back, we had the fish and chips, and some wonderful homemade soup. Both were excellent, and the service was decent. However prices were predatory.Today, we attended and ordered the special – which was fried scallops, baby potatoes, asparagus and some garnishments. The food was ok, but very sparse. A few scallops, a few halves of baby potatoes, and maybe three tiny shreds of asparagus. Needless to say, we were all still hungry when we left, contrary to our waiter’s assertion that the meals we ordered would be very significant and an extremely good value. At $32 per plate (our bill came right close to $200 after 2 small glasses of wine, some pop and a beet salad), it was very poor value. Our waiter Ryan, was otherwise very attentive and pleasant to deal with. The place is very small, so when it’s packed it’s extremely loud. Either go early to beat the crowd, which is what we did today, or bring ear plugs. It’s good quality food, but the predatory pricing and today’s tiny portions will make us think twice next time we are looking for a restaurant.I would also like to dispel the myth that this place is upscale. It’s bar and grill food, burgers and fries. The menus are printed on disposable mats. Absolutely nothing upscale about it. Don’t let the decor or super high prices fool you, Charleswood.
Our first supper club visit and won’t be the last. Service was great. Better than most places I can remember. I had the Capital burger and my gf had the fish and chips. Both were awesome. Everyone at our table of 9 really enjoyed their dinner. I am full and satisfied.
It’s kind of upscale without being pretentious. I had the burger and fries and split a lemon tart. Everything hands down awesome! Seasoning on the fries is addictive. For sure will go back.
The fish and chips are unreal! I’ve never dined in but the take out service is prompt and the staff is very friendly! My coworkers have told me the soup is to die for and the burgers look delicious
