This place is beautiful. The renovation of the firehouse makes for a very nice place to eat, and they have a great patio out front. We had a group of 24 people here for a family reunion, and they easily accommodated us at one long table inside.I ordered the potato-crusted fish and chips. It was delicious, but it really needed some tartar sauce. The asian slaw that was served with it was amazing though!I should have ordered the banh mi though. I tried a bit of someone else’s, and it was truly fantastic. It has that same asian slaw on it, plus delicious bbq pork, served on a yummy soft bun. I really wish I would have gotten that! The service was friendly, but very slow. They only assigned a single server to our table of 24, and she had other tables out on the patio! That was very poor on the part of the management. All in all though we really liked. Great place, and we’ll definitely go back. Great craft beer selection too!
The decor is great. You can still see the old firehouse charm which is awesome. However, I came here for the food and I must say that it was very underwhelming. We had the Brick chicken, seafood linguini and pork chop. The chicken was in a coconut sauce that was bland and greasy. The yam fries were placed under the chicken and sauce which made them soggy, such rookie mistake. The pasta was okay. For $20 you only get a few mussels and small pieces of salmon, and the cream sauce lacked flavors. The park chop was mediocre. The roasted vegetables (also in the chicken dish) were slightly under cooked and under seasoned. The rice was just plain rice. We came on a Monday night and half the restaurant was use for ‘Paint Night’ which was awkward cause the instructor used a microphone and the entire restaurant could hear and not the most pleasant environment for the dining patrons. Not very well thought of.
Best restaurant in Brandon. Never had a disappointing meal there. They had a learning period when they first opened regarding speed of service but now service is quite good. Excellent drinks, excellent food. Huge emphasis in the kitchen on locally sourced food wherever possible. Friendly staff, definitely my #1 recommendation for food in this city hands down.
