Horrible! I ordered a cake for my daughter’s birthday and when we arrived to pick it up, they advised they never had an order for it! I’ve made orders in the past and not once has this happened. Elderly man wasn’t even appologetic. Such rude customer service.

Maxim serves you Chinese pastries that no one else serves in the City. The bakery is located a block away from the Chinese Cultural Community Centre. Whenever my family and I are in the area, we always pick up some pastries along the way. The pastries remind us of being back in Hong Kong. At special occasions, ie birthdays, we also always order our birthday cakes there. It is definitely my family’s #1 go-to! We find that cakes from plenty of other bakeries in the City are often overly sweet. The cakes at Maxim are fluffy and moist. The level of sweetness is always on point. If you plan to purchase a cake, make sure you give them at least 24 hours notice and they will bake it fresh for you. If you have never had Chinese pastries before and are wondering what they are, this is the place to check out!

Tried all the buns. Been over a decade since I tried anything from here. I’ve been fuelling my habit between NYC, Toronto and Vancouver since that time. Thought I’d give it a chance since I had a craving. Deeply disappointed. None of the savoury buns had enough flavour for me to warrant giving any more than a 2.0 and hats being generous. I didn’t expect there to be the amount of filling as I got elsewhere but at least have some good flavour. Everything I had was bland. May as well just get the a la carte buns from any of the dim sum places. You’ll be far less disappointed.
